don't vent on public forums if you really want to feel better

[https://ttsreader.com/ for those who cannot read large portions of text]

before you comment without reading this, no, i don't care, there are very little exceptions to this that are too minimal or uncommon for me to bring up.

i am a student counselor/mentor at my school, part of the school's mental health and academic advocacy center. i am in the middle of taking psychology courses online and will be taking a semester long psychology course in person in the spring. while i am not as experienced as a psychologist, i have enough knowledge to say venting online to strangers almost never has benefits. there are more cruel people on the internet than kind people, and even i will ridicule you if you post some stupid edgy violent hissy fit about a girl or boy at your school. you will only be more damaged by mockery and bullying if you act a fool.

most often, the people posting these vents online are mentally ill or literal children. i'm making this post because another spacehey user [whom i will not bring up by name] posted about me publicly because i made a sarcastic remark on one of their vents, going as far as to call me a stupid whore. while i don't take this personally [trained by a higher counselor to not take things personally, lot of users could use that] and i took it as reason to be even more sarcastic, they clearly took my comment very personally.

sadly, many posts you see on the recent blogs page can be considered vents. these can range from simply wanting to go home early from school to violent, deranged threats towards another person. there is such thing as positive venting, but then again, this is positive. i am focusing on venting of negative emotions.

venting publicly and not on diary, friends, favorites list, or link-only privacy lets the whole world see it, and this is not an exaggeration. spacehey blogs can appear on most web browser searches. [example of this below]

if you absolutely need to get your feelings out and don't want to talk to someone directly to it, post with the diary (private) privacy setting or friends only. i understand writing about feelings makes many people feel better, myself included, and i have some diary blogs because of this. but do not post your utmost personal feelings to an internet full of strangers.

it is only detrimental to you if it finds the wrong audience.

i will not be debating this in the comments, bitchy users will only get mocked. have some common sense on the internet before it's too late
