Boku No Hero Academia/My Hero Academia BAKUDEKU/DEKUBAKU/BKDK/DKBK Zombie Apocalypse AU (PART 1)

They've had a complicated relationship for as long as he can remember. Chasing after him from behind, viewing blonde hair that seemed to flow gracefully in the sunlight. From bug-catching, throwing pebbles in the ocean, and getting the same cards of All Might, they did everything together. Everything has been done together, including today. But is this the last time they'll ever get to see each other?

It was the day of U.A. graduation, Inko was crying tears of joys as she ran up to her 'little boy' that was now a young man. He blushed slightly, a bit embarrassed because his mom was being super emotional and hugging him in front of literally EVERYBODY. Despite being a bit embarrassed though, she's still his mom. Of course he's gonna cry with her and hug her no matter how embarrassed he feels on the inside. Eventually, he did gently push her back while saying "Okay mom, I think that's enough for now.." while laughing nervously. It felt like everyone was staring.

He glanced over at the Bakugo family, pfft.. it sure was entertaining over there. There's less yelling than he thought there would be, but Kacchan definitely seemed annoyed as his mom was scolding him for refusing to give her a hug, and his dad was standing to the side trying to break up the two goobers from causing a scene in front of everybody. Izuku smiled, even though the Bakugo family dynamic was strange, it felt so oddly relieving to know they didn't really change all that much after all these years.

Izuku was wearing something fancy for today, a suit and a tie with some dress-pants. Well, it is their graduation, and he's not the only one dressing up for today. Of course, everyone else was dressed up as well but he couldn't help but drift his eyes over to Kacchan. Well, it's not *his* fault that Kacchan looks stunning, especially today! He looked away before he could get caught by piercing red eyes glaring back his way, a slight blush on his face as he tried to get a hold on himself. What is he even thinking? He needs to calm down, go over and congratulate Kacchan instead of just standing here feeling all... weird!

He took a few deep breaths as he finally gathered his barings. "Hey mom, I'm gonna go congratulate Kacchan and some of my other classmates if that's okay." Inko nodded while still sobbing slightly. "Okay, but you better come back soon so I can give you another hug!" Izuku just sighed with a smile before he walked over to the Bakugo family first and foremost, feeling a strange sensation in his chest.

"Hey, uhm.. congratulations Kacchan!" He smiled nervously as he congratulated him. Phew, he finally did it. Of course, all that he got in return was a "Tsk, whatever." Despite the response, he was actually relieved that it's the same-old Kacchan. "Congralutations to you too, Izuku." Upon hearing that, he was actually a bit shocked. Yes, he already got pretty used to Kacchan calling him by his real name after the apology that happened near the end of their first year/start of their second year, but what really surprised him was getting congratulated back. Of course, before he could thank Kacchan, the other glared at him a way that definitely meant "don't even try it, punk." so he didn't say anything in return. He just smiled brightly and let out a slight laugh when Mitsuki yelled at Katsuki to "BE NICE!" which ended in the two very alike family members to start bickering again. Izuku just shook his head with a smile. Honestly, he's glad that things haven't changed more than they needed to. This is nice.

Even though everything is going well, there's a voice at the back of his head that is reminding him that this is probably the last time he'll ever see Kacchan. I mean, they only got to interact this much because they got into the same school along with the same class. They were super lucky in that regard, but there's no guarantee he'll get to see him again.

What if.. they don't get to be friends anymore? Tears ran down his face as he thought about it. The tears kept falling, one by one they slid down his cheeks as he realized the reality. Katsuki turned to face him after arguing with his 'old hag', raising an eyebrow as he practically glared a hole through Izuku. "What the fuck? Why are you crying?"

Those words snapped him out of his thoughts, and he looked up at Katsuki with his big, watery green eyes as he sniffled. "Sorry.. I didn't even realize, haha. I guess I'm just emotional since we all really made it. We're graduating, Kacchan! We get to be the greatest heroes now!" He did his best to put on a smile and act like his usual self despite what he had been thinking less than a second ago.

The blonde let out a tsk as he glared into Izuku's eyes with his own red ones. "If it really was just from your stupid sappy bullshit, you wouldn't have that look in your eyes. What's the problem, nerd? And don't fucking lie to me." It's obvious he saw right through the broccoli-head's lies.

Izuku's smile immediately faltered as he quickly averted his eyes and took a step back. "W-What? Nothing's wrong, I'm fine. Uhm.. y'know what? I need to go congratulate everyone else now, so I'll see you later Kacchan!" He immediately ran before Katsuki could stop him. To be honest, he wasn't sure where he was going, he just felt like he needed to get out of there and get some fresh air for a bit.

"HEY, WAIT! Ugh.. stupid Izuku.." The blond grumbled under his breath as he watched the broccoli-haired man use some of OFA at a small percentage to bunny-hop away quicker than normal running would allow for him to do.

Part of him wanted to chase after the damn nerd, but he had a feeling that the idiot might need some space. So, for once, he decided to be nice and let him be for now. But as soon as he sees him again, he will force the truth out of him.

So much time has gone by ever since that day. They both established their own hero agencies, and due to the fact that they each went their own separate ways to become their own kind of heroes, they ended up not talking for a while. That is, not until a serious epidemic spread that caused hero agencies to merge, including theirs, so that they could easily reach more people at once and work together to help sick people and stop it from spreading further. Doctors confirmed that the cause of the epidemic was a quirk, which is terrifying as hell to think about. That kind of power, in someone's hands.. and they're using it for evil as well.

Izuku felt nervous, not just because of the dangerous epidemic that was spreading but also due to the fact that he would be seeing Kacchan again after all this time. Of course, putting a stop to the epidemic once and for all was his top priority, but he couldn't help but be nervous working alongside his childhood friend, rival and crush after all this time. He still wasn't over him, he probably never would be. Deep down, he knows that this love is one-sided, so it's not like he'll ever bring it up to anyone, especially not Kacchan.. but it's still something he has to deal with. He just hopes he can set aside his dumb feelings, along with his nervousness, and just focus on their mission. To be a hero means to save people with a big and bright smile to tell them that you are here and that they're safe now. At least, that's what it means to Deku.

That's why these feelings are just going to get in the way in the long run. If he wants to be someone that can save others, he has to make sure he's in the right state both mentally and physically to do so. Yes, he's pushed himself both physically and mentally in the past, but that helped him get stronger. And uh, it's not like he meant to break his bones or anything like that. It was a learning process, that's all. At least that's in the past, he has much better control and understanding over his quirk now. I mean that makes sense, he's an adult after all now. Even if he doesn't exactly feel like an adult, he is one, and has even more responsibilities than ever before because of that fact.

Ah, he really wonders how Kacchan is doing.. he can't wait to say hello tomorrow since that's the big day that their agencies will merge along with others. Kacchan isn't the only one he'll be seeing tomorrow, but he still wants to greet him first if possible because of their long history together and all the things they've been through. He'll still greet his other pro hero friends, of course, it's just that his childhood friend and rival is a top priority in his mind. Does that make him biased..? Eh, whatever, it's not like he leaves anyone else out of the greetings. It's just that he wants to see Kacchan first, that's all.. that isn't weird. He's had a chance to talk to his other friends on the phone and such, but he never even received Kacchan's number so it's not like he could call or text him out of the blue just to say hello. For the others, he's had that chance to talk on the phone or in text messages.. but he's never been able to properly contact Kacchan. Maybe that's why he's so excited for tomorrow, along with the fact that it's such a big day where so many pro hero agencies will be merging to work together and finally take down the villain that's wreaking havoc.

"I hope we're able to capture them fast.." Izuku yawned as he finally flopped onto his bed. He had been pacing around his room this whole time, lost in his own thoughts along with taking notes in one of his many notebooks for ideas of how to say hello to everyone properly, along with actual important ideas of how to find and capture the villain. He's also excited to hear what other people have to say, but in order for tomorrow to come faster he needs to sleep. So he closes his eyes and eventually drifts off to sleep since he's finally gotten most of the overwhelming thoughts out of his mind.
