SOOO LIKEEE, Im very new to 'scenecore' and I really love the fashion of it!! I really love it and im getting clothing and accessories to dress it out!! Is there any websites that sell cute scene merch? Im mostly buying Sanrio and Gloomy bear so far since I love them (Cinnamoroll will ALWAYS be my favv!!!) I mostly listen to hyperpop music which I like the most!
And btw, whats with the 'scene' vs 'scenecore' thing? It's very confusing. I don't get whey people hate on scenecore. Scenecore is just a newer and modified scene genre. Everything gets modified at some point, why be mad at it? It's how I first gotten in. I was inspired a LOT by the fashion, which was the gateway to why I wanna be scene.
If anyone can, please teach me how to be scene. Oh and one more thing? Is it okay to listen multiple genres at a time?? Just curious.

hi‼️ im a scene kid, and the first thing i want to note is that true scene is much different from scenecore. in the scene community scenecore kids are often looked down on and are seen as posers mostly because they tend to dress in scene fashion but then ignore what actually makes scene a true subculture. i just want to point out that there is a difference. sorry if that sounds rude, i don't want to sound mean ;-;
basically the main difference between scene and scenecore is the origins of them. scene originates from subcultures like crunk, emo, punk, and goth, whereas scenecore takes scene and waters it down essentially into an aesthetic. what makes a subculture an actual subculture is the music, alternative political beliefs, and fashion, and because scenecore doesn't follow any of the things that would make it truly scene, it can't be seen as such. im not great at explaining history but there are some really great video essays written by actual scene kids about this history of scene and the discourse between scene and scenecore.
as for clothes, i would actually recommend goodwill! its better for the environment because it means that you're not buying as much in to fast fashion, and its significantly less expensive than if you were to buy from sites. the majority of what scene kids like myself wear often isn't anything super special, it just looks fancier because of the way we accessorize. i mostly wear tank tops and skinny jeans that i have either found secondhand or have been given to me. hot topic and claire's are great options too though, although they're (especially hot topic) not the cheapest of options and definitely not the most durable.
for accessories, most of the time we make them ourselves. kandi supplies are relatively affordable and it may be a little bit more expensive up front but if you make accessories yourself they usually last a pretty long time. there are numerous tutorials on youtube and deviantart if you're not sure where to start or don't know how make something.
im sorry for the essay, but i really hope this helps! i guess if you have anymore questions then dm me or something because i want to help <3

Yayyay tysm for tellling me! This helps me a lot! I do have some questions. Is it okay to mostly be in the fashion but also in the music of scene as well?? And do you have to meet all the fashion requirements to be scene? I wanna make sure I can understand this more and help be a better person getting into it, since I really like it

the style is fairly customizable so you don't have to meet all the fashion criteria, i've been scene for at least a year now, i can't remember exactly when i got into it, but i only recently was able to raccoon my hair, and nobody really care to much if you add a bit of your own personal style into the way you dress, i would actually encourage it. what really makes you a part of a subculture is listening to the music, agreeing with the political beliefs, and either dressing in or having a desire to dress in the fashion of the subculture. (i can actually recommend you some scene bands if you want too cause there's so many that i love)
im not really sure what you mean by your first question but the way im reading it, i do agree that you can mainly dress the fashion even if you don't listen to the music all the time. tbh i really love scene music but i would have to admit that the music genres i listen to the most are stuff like scramz or experimental. there are definitely elitists (or even people not in the subculture that gatekeep ) that will say you things like "you can only listen to this genre of music" or "you have to dress scene all the time or you're not a true scene kid" and i definitely don't dress scene all the time or listen to the music all the time so just don't listen to them.
being alternative in general is and always been based in rebelling from social norms and being yourself and having fun so if anyone try's to tell you otherwise then it's really not true and it's not fair to say things like that, just enjoy dress the way you want to dress and enjoy it

Yayayy!! Tysm for explaining things!! It helps so muchh!! :DDD What artists u recommenddd??
by MITTENS; ; Report
i personally really love artists like millionaires, jeffree star, dot dot curve, scottie vanity, metro station, jordan sweeto, scene kidz, ohemgee, brokencyde, s3rl, alexandher, all of those bands are pretty popular ones except for maybe jordan sweeto but they're my personal favourites, i don't want to say blood on the dance floor though just because of what dahvie vanity has done and tbh their music isn't really that good
there's definitely a lot of overlap with emo music too, so things like my chemical romance, avril lavigne, pierce the veil, things like that
scenecore bands are things like odetari, h3artcrush, 6arleyhuman, rebzyyx, etc. which none of them i really like at all but a lot of people get genres mixed up and end up thinking that they listen to scene music when it's really just scenecore. idk if you do but i just wanted to note the difference
