Stop normalizing being hateful or mean

Stop normalizing hate

I will never understand how normalized being mean online has become. In fact, people often encourage it, so not only is it seen as morally acceptable, but it's also promoted. When I go on TikTok, I sometimes see comments like "why is no one hating?" Sure, maybe the person is posting something that is "cringy" at times, but they're just having fun.

It's not that I'm overly sensitive I can handle jokes, trust me. But when I see comments that are clearly not jokes and are genuinely mean-spirited, it's just sad. Hiding behind a screen to degrade others is beyond crazy to me. If you're not what a person likes or is interested in, you'll often get insulted for it. Again, I'm not talking about people who joke around—I mean the people who are actually serious, the ones who judge others and genuinely love hating.

I'm not saying this just for the sake of the feelings of the person being hated on, but also for the person spreading the hate. This kind of negativity will taint you, and even if it doesn't affect you now, it will catch up with you eventually.

Another aspect of hate is how we respond to it. Even if someone is being rude or disrespectful to you and I know this might not make sense I don't think you should give that energy back. "Hate cannot drive out hate only love can do that." I'm not sure who said that, but it's a sentiment I remember. I understand why people respond to hate with more hate I'm not saying I don't understand. But I don't believe it will get you anywhere.
