The social network I'm building: part 1

I've been trying to make a social media or networking site for the past year now, and I haven't gotten even one attempt to have a following feature. They've had poorly written image uploading capabilities, but not one has had a user customizeable timeline on the homepage, not one.

That changes soon, as it's the next feature I plan on adding to my current iteration. I've decided to stop playing chicken on the actual social element of a social network, as I've realized it really shouldn't be that hard of a feature to implement, as well as the fact that I don't want it to just be a fancy chatroom.

Wish me luck, I still don't quite have the confidence that my idea on how this will work will indeed work.
