Just changed my SoundCloud APK because the previous one on my phone I was using was not compatible with Airbuds. I did think the issue with the original APK was a fluke actually, considering I was getting a new phone and sometimes there is an in-between period when the data transfer on apps are a little fickle. However, hours became days, which became weeks, which became a month and so it had to be time to find an alternative apk. I honestly kept putting this aside for the same reason anyone puts anything off, I felt that it was too time consuming. I found that the version I was previously using on my old phone was apparently not compatible with my current one, so that was a place to start. Surprisingly, the solution wasn't Reddit, but a long session of cross referencing information about Soundcloud itself. I do prefer SoundCloud more over Spotify, mostly due to it being a more user-based platform. I enjoy the fact that it allows for user uploads and it is a lot more friendly to the average person than Spotify. Nonetheless, I should clarify that I am aware of the hostility it has as a platform, otherwise why would I be looking for alternate APK downloads instead of just the Play Store version. In recent years, SoundCloud has made a move to integrate ads, which would not be as much of an issue if it wasn't every other song. Additionally, to upload past a certain amount of tracks, you have to pay a subscription, which makes it nonviable for artists who already are struggling to break into their niche/genre. It's not just a SoundCloud problem, it's a corporation problem, something that just comes with Capitalism consuming anything that is supposed to benefit its users. Even platforms that originated as being entirely for the user have made this turn, look at Crunchyroll, for instance. It used to be an anime piracy site, until it gained more capital through licensing anime. This origin lead it to also having begun the underpaying of people who localize and subtitle anime, as it gained its standard for paying fansubbers who were already doing the work for free and would undervalue their work. If one were to take an eye to the business model now, they'd notice how Crunchyroll is taking advantage of its past practices rather than seeking more ethical ones, whilst hiking their prices up for users tremendously. It's just an extension of what happens with an economic system based on companies rather than the individual, the only way to maintain a position is to be opportunistic and mistreat those who work under you or anyone use your service (08/28/2024). — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
