Here is a screenshot of my laptop running the KDE Plasma desktop environment in Linux Mint (Cinnamon edition).
Not recommended unless you want to troubleshoot and risk breaking your system. Apparently switching my display manager (which just gives you the login screen and lets you change desktop environments) from lightdm to sddm broke my system until I changed it back.
Other things to note about KDE Plasma in Linux Mint:
- It's probably better to install the Linux Distro "KDE Neon" or even "Kubuntu" if you like the KDE Plasma desktop environment.
- I installed KDE Plasma with the command:
sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop - In KDE Plasma network setting were missing so I had to install them, install with command:
sudo apt install plasma-nm - In KDE Plasma screen capture didn't work because the "spectacle" app was missing, install with "Discover" NOT terminal because that won't work. Then run Spectacle at least once.
- KDE Plasma wallpapers were missing, installed with command:
sudo apt install plasma-workspace-wallpapers - But some KDE Plasma wallpapers were STILL missing so I installed (copied) them from:
https://github.com/KDE/plasma-workspace-wallpapers - Using KDE Plasma, in Settings someĀ "Task Switchers" missing, installed with command:
sudo apt install kwin-addons - Cube effect missing in Settings inside KDE Plasma, it was apparently removed in some versions of KDE Plasma. Might be able to install it from:
https://github.com/KDE/kdeplasma-addons - In KDE Plasma Trash can widget for desktop doesn't work. (Get by dragging Trash to Desktop using Dolphin file manager.)
- In KDE Plasma dark theme wallpapers don't work automatically, so you have to manually browse and activate them.
- You may have to restart when switching between Cinnamon and KDE Plasma to avoid bugs.

There seems to be some instability with my passwords and cookies stored in Brave when I switch between KDE Plasma and Cinnamon. It looks like some of these cookies and passwords are getting removed from Brave when I switch between these Desktop Environments.

I use a password manager (KeePass) outside of the browser so I can still get my login information from there.
