gatekeeping is extremely necessary within alt scenes, however it is often misused as just "no, I won't give you recommendations, you need to find it yourself"

gatekeeping should always be used to keep nazis, millionaires and general assholes out of the scene, it is absolutely alright to recommend bands to people, especially smaller bands

underground bands deserve recognition, don't be an asshole and protect the scene from dicks instead
