this show is really good
the pacing was better this season, it think. the tonal shifts are good, you go between funny or lighthearted moments and genuinely distressing scenes (house fire, mob being pressured to exorcise innocent spirits). i kind of got whiplash going from the marathon plotline to the claw episodes, but it made sense as a tragic in-universe thing rather than a weird writing decision.
mob as a character is really interesting. he reads as a lot younger than he is, i said he was 12 in the last post when he's actually 14, and he acts closer to 10. his values and logic are all so simple. he fully believes reigen is a psychic, he thinks he'll get the girl if he works out, etc. we see him mature a bit this season, notably when he decides he can't take reigen's words at face value anymore. dimple comments on this, but it didn't feel as drastic as he said it was. also interesting was him crashing reigen's post-cancellation press conference. it's simultaneously vindictive and overly trusting. and even after all that, he still holds to the idea that anybody can change with his help when he goes to fight suzuki.
i'm excited to watch the next season. i binged about half of this one in one sitting, which i don't usually do (see: me taking more than a year to watch enterprise) because i was so hooked.
(another thing i want to bring up is that we never see reigen driving, he always takes the train or a taxi. he and mob are fellow Pedestrian Kings)
