About the Psycho of America...

First blog entry, first little mini-passage I have for anyone interested.

As seen in my profile, I do like the movie American Psycho but not because I'm some edgy 12-year-old who likes murder and thinks Patrick Bateman is a sigma (those words deal psychic damage to me, and I'll touch on Patrick Bateman as a character later) but because American Psycho fucking sucks. Seriously. It's boring as hell for majority of it (which is intentional), and certain parts are incredibly fucking funny. So let us dive into what I feel and what I have to say about the movie.

If it wasn't obvious before, or you don't pay attention, heavy spoilers for American Psycho.

Part One; The Movie

So, I've already seen the movie before, and I've got to say, it sucks donkey balls. I would describe the movie's progression, scenes, camerawork and so one, however it's so bland and boring that it wouldn't do us any justice. So instead I'll describe it in a sentence;

"This is so boring and slow, dying of dysentery would be enjoyable."

My main gripe with the movie is that it's not super interesting, and while I don't condone explosions every four seconds, Subway Surfers gameplay being placed beneath footage, or action taking up 95% of the movie, basically walking in on a conversation of rich suits bickering about restaurant choice and making fun of Jewish people (minus Bateman, who actually tells them to "Cool it with the anti-Semitic remarks") isn't exactly something most people are entertained by.

The next few scenes are establishing Bateman and how he's a psychopathic prick. That's... that's really about it. Rest of the movie is more of the same, with some minor notes here and there about what's wrong with him and occasional murder.

Oh, and his homophobia saves someone from him, which is super fucking funny.

Part Two; The funniest shit ever + Some notes

So, I did say the movie sucks, and well... yeah it still does BUT it has some banger scenes, such as the famous business card scene, the murder of Paul Allen, the dinner with the detective, the ATM asking Bateman to "FEED ME A STRAY CAT" and the scene where he spins around in a revolving door and kills someone.

The ATM scene actually caught me so off guard, I couldn't help but laugh my ass off at the stupid nature of it. Just watching Bateman stare at an ATM and pushing some stray kitten against it with a gun against it's head was such a funny sight, I couldn't stop laughing. Oh, and the revolving door scene compounding on top of it with the idea of Bateman spinning around in the door, murdering someone and then just going back to spinning around in the door.

Throughout the movie, some scenes really shine in showing the actual message of American Psycho, which is that Bateman's character doesn't matter. He's a faceless, nameless nobody who is so forgettable that people confuse him for other people, and how other business men are also confused for others. They are nothing, and their existence doesn't matter. Of course, nothing has ever stopped the internet from glorifying a piece of shit and fictional murderers so that's not something I'm really interested in changing.

This is just my opinion of course, and it's about as meaningless as Bateman's existence so take it with the fattest grain of salt you can find, and feel free to addon to this, to tell me why I am wrong, or to point out some flaws in what I've written here (both in my statements generally, and my grammar/punctuation/spelling separately).

Have a good one!
