Buy your own domain and establish your online presence.
Start your own website (as quirky or cool or cringe as you want) and grow it:
No ads.
No product promotions or sponsored links.
Hand-crafted.
Compatible with older browsers and machines.
Join webrings.
Link to people like you.
Get involved, participate in forum conversations, it’s what keeps them alive.
Fight for your rights:
Privacy.
Anonymity.
Self-hosting.
Don’t use Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Reddit, Google.
Ignore social media, it has sucked up everything cool about the internet and made it absolutely terrible.
Don’t neglect your hobbies.
Do not use centralized means of communication, like Whatsapp, Discord, etc. Instead use Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or XMPP.
Don’t mindlessly consume, create instead.
Own
your content, never rely on cloud providers to host your stuff,
everyone should host stuff themselves and help build this wonderful
network of human beings.
Consider using open and libre hardware
(and software that will facilitate the open-ness of your hardware):
Purism, postmarketOS, Framework, coreBoot, Linux, RISC-V.
Support
the artists and pieces of content you love, build a library that you’re
proud of, one that you’re happy to open up in the morning.
Ignore propaganda and don’t participate in censorship.
You
are a person, focus on the relationships and the things that make you
happy and improve you. Focus on your health, give yourself space to
think, learn and reflect.
Try to be kind, everyone you meet is probably fighting a hard battle.
