I think one of the most fun parts about having friends who are into the same media as you is the ability to make little original characters that you stuff into the world and having them interact. I'm not even just talking about self inserts, just any original characters that you make when the idea is sparked for you. I think it replicates that feeling of being in a playground and using your action figures to fight each other or to discuss stupid little stuff. It feels like a bonding experience in a way to be able to make these silly little guys who talk to your friends' silly little guys and having them do little meaningless activities. It's something that does happen more in your teens than adulthood but honestly it's like a reprise of some childlike glee that you are often told you're too old for at that time. For instance, I was reminiscing earlier about a few years back when I was writing silly Pokemon lore between my friends and I about our characters in Pokemon Legends: Arceus back when that dropped. I liked how my character was like the gossip holder of all the OCs, being the owner of a small teashop, but not directly fighting with anyone. I always liked making characters that were more observers than active participants because it felt fun being the lore keeper and having that factor into my character's actions. Anyways, I forgot I was getting blood work done today, until my friend graciously reminded me while we were hanging out. He was going to bring me to the appointment anyways but I have been so out of it between my lack of sleep and my cycle that I genuinely forgot that they were going to take samples of my blood. Honestly, I was a little freaked out because I don't like needles in my arm for longer than ten seconds. Thankfully, I realize they just put pressure on the vein and have it push out the blood instead of pulling it out with a fat syringe like my old doctor did when I was a kid. I had to eat an orange and my friend sang little stupid songs to keep me sane while they took my blood because I get freaked out easily but it took less than five minutes. I was actually mostly worried that I had bad veins to draw from or that my other ones were ruined by previous doctors, but it seemed fine (08/22/2024). — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
