Dungeon Meshi Rant :3

I don't know what about this show makes me go crazy, BUT IT DOES (not ina bad way tho :3)! I love how this show takes the expectation of a stoic and serious leader who will do anything for the betterment of the world and/or prophecy and flips it on its head! (Spoilers for the later end of season one 0o0) When Laios is told by Yad that he is the prophesized hero that is meant to inherit the Golden Country, instead of immediately accepting it, he almost kind of refuses it. Laios only really cares about two things: Rescuing Falin, and monster (not saying he don't have other motives and things he charishes, but those are his primary focuses). Why? Because he isn't a typical party leader, stoic and serious; he's silly and goal driven, at times it can be read as being selfish. However, this subersion of classing hero tropes is a breath of fresh air that allows the flow of the show to continually flow and it dosen't feel ackward when it goes from aha silly guy to uh oh this isn't good oOo! Not to mention how the show's other characters help to flesh out the idea that Laios shouldn't be seen as "normal". Take Kabru for a second, yes, he is obviously ment to be a foil for Laios, duh; however, Kabru is also (steriotypically speaking) the "perfect" anime party leader. He's calculating, observant, and otherwise has amazing charisma, but he has one hamartia: he's bad at understanding monster, a quintisental characteristic needed in someone who dives into dungeons. Now on the other hand, Laios is pretty much empty headed (hes smart dont get me wrong but he often acts before thinking) besides monsters, he is social unaware, and he tends to freak people out because of how social inept he is. The one thing Laios has that Kabru doesn't is his monster knowledge. In all other aspects, Laios isn't a great leader, but his monster knowlege and care for his party members makes him a good leader never the less. His role in the party is a breath of fresh air and stops the show from becoming an edgy show that has cooking in it for some reason, to a show about a party trying to save another member from the bowels of the dungeon while they grow ever closer in their interpersonal bonds while cooking up appealing foods to lighten the mood when things begin to get bleek! Laios is not only important to the show because he's the hero of prophecy, but because he's what makes the show different from every other dungeon delving, D&D, adventuring anime! HE'S WHAT MAKES MY BRAIN GO CRAZY CUZ HE'S LITERALLY ME FR!!! :D Anyways that's it, hope you enjoyed, or even just read all of this, ik it's a lot lol :3. BYE BYE!!!!
