The Danny Fenton is Trans Theory (and my opinion on it)

One of my favourite theories of the show Danny Phantom is that the main character himself, Danny Fenton, is transgender female-to-male (ftm). Now personally I love this theory because I myself am transgender ftm, as much as I hate to admit it most times because I want to be seen as a man, not as a transgender man. But it's nice to headcannon one of my favourite characters in a way that I can relate to them, and there's nothing in the show completely disproving it.

Before I begin this, I would like to recognize that this is NOT CANON at all, and I respect everybody's opinions on the topic, whether you believe it or not. This is just for fun.

Spoiler warning obviously.

Now for the evidence

1. His form: one of the most common pieces of evidence for this theory is Danny's posing and emotion between his two halves. It's clear while in his ghost form, he's more confident and care-free. Comparing that to his human self, which is usually quieter, more introverted even. A lot of people also point out the way he holds himself/the way he looks/dresses in his different forms. As a human, his shoulders are more sloped downward and he wears baggy jeans, a common thing for trans men with larger, more feminine legs to wear. Whereas as a ghost, his shoulders are broad and his legs are thinner, as a man's would be. A lot of people theorize that his "ghost form" is a version of his true gender (translation: his spirit's male), and that's why he feels more confident as it.

2. The Bathroom Joke: In Episode 17, "Lucky in Love", Danny can be seen mistakenly going into the girl's washroom (a ghost had shown up and he needed to get away from the crowd). Star and Paulina push him out, pointing at the "women's" sign on the door. To this, Paulina makes the joke, "I'd tell you to go to the men's room, but I don't think you qualify". This is an obvious stab at his masculinity, not just in a "trans man could never be a real man" way, but just as a, "teenage boy doesn't feel manly enough" way. Though for the sake of this theory, let's take it as the former. After all, it could work both ways.

3. Wearing a shirt to swim?: In the same episode, Danny and his classmates are at a waterpark. Here you can see Sam, who is wearing a black cloak (?) and funeral hat overtop of her purple swimsuit, Tucker, who is wearing swim trunks, and Danny, who is wearing swim trunks and a muscle shirt. Also, this episode disproves the earlier point of baggy jeans.

I'm sure it's a style choice for many men to wear a shirt to the beach, but tell me, why does he continue to wear it after he says it's hot outside? Wouldn't you, if given the choice, take off your shirt if you insist you're hot? It wasn't like any of the other men at the park who were planning on getting wet had a shirt on (he was in line with his friends for a ride, it's not like they were just sitting there). I'm pretty sure (and forgive me if I'm wrong here) he can be seen without a shirt on in another episode (might have been episode 9: My Brother's Keeper when Spectra dressed him as a baby), which another theory comes into play here. To stretch this theory further because I want to be delusional to the truth so I can relate to my favourite characters, he has top surgery and just doesn't want to show his scars. It's not impossible for younger teens to have gotten top surgery, though impractical because there is still a chance for changing of mind. All you need is parental permission in some countries if you're under 16.

4. Dani Phantom: One of the most absolutely overwhelming pieces of evidence was Vlad's failed clone of Danny, Danielle. From what I remember, Vlad did a direct DNA clone of Danny, which turned into a younger, female version of him: Danielle (or Dani). Vlad was obviously baffled by this. I mean, he cloned him from his DNA, how could it have turned out female? Answer: If he had female chronozones. I don't recall if it's ever explained why Dani is a girl or if it's just left unanswered, but I do enjoy the thought that it's because he's trans.

5. Ghost, Boy, or Something in Between: A point people like to reference is the line from Jack Fenton in the episode Reality Trip. In this, (SPOILER WARNING!), Danny ends up telling his parents about his alter ego. To the news, Jack says something along the lines of, "We love you Danny, whether you're a ghost, boy, or something in between." Now to me, this doesn't seem like a big deal. It was a joke said because he is quite literally the in-between of a ghost and a boy. He isn't just a ghost, but he isn't just a kid either; he's both. But after talking to my friend, I can kind of see why it would point towards this theory. She told me that (in her words), "The way it's written makes it sound like he's coming out as trans".

There are plenty of more points that suggest this theory, but unfortunately I can't remember them. I really enjoy the theory though, because like I said, I'm trans myself and it gives me someone to relate to. I have to be honest, the only trans ftm rep I know of in media is Elliot Page in The Umbrella Academy and Barney in Dead End: Paranormal Park, and I don't watch either of those shows (I watch dead end but not much), so having a character to relate to makes me feel seen.

Again, none of this has been proven canon (actually I did find a video a few years ago of one of the writers saying "yes" to the question "is Danny Phantom transgender", but it felt like he was pressured into saying yes so I don't like to count it), but it's just what I like to believe.
