Man episode 8 of ohshc was really weird...but lowkey that seemed really out of character for him and im pretty sure the writers mainly wanted to use this as fan service. A bunch of things in that show aged horribly tbh, really sad they had to ruin Kyoyas character like that- ESPECIALLY WHEN A BUNCH OF PEOPLE RELATE TO HIM LIKE BROOO. Lowkey relate to him cause of a bunch of stuff but L ohshc writers :(
Like I guess there was a reason why he did that and he wasn't gonna do the actual thing but what the flip ohshc writers

for real!!! the beach epsisode kyoya is gross. i mean i feel like he might have it in him to do something like that (respectfully) but yah definitely felt more fan-servicey. its such a shame because the way the epsidoe is set up, it almost makes that event seem like the 'problem' instead of the fight between haruhi and tamaki. in the context of 2009, idk whether it would have been viewed any differently? im a 2007 girl so i was only 2 ToT
It was probably definitely looked upon differently at the time, but still really weird. Like they're HOSTS idk why any one of them would have it in them to do that. And it really sucks when his characters so great then that thing ruined it

im rewatching ohshc (watching it on dvd aaaahhh) and the beach episode isnt as bad as i remembr. i think also tamaki and haruhi's fight was unwarranted. and the whole kyoya thing felt SOSOOSSO fan-servicey. since i know he wouldn't do that since HE IS A HOST (as u so rightly mentioned) i tried to view it through that lens and yeah he is hot and the position he put haruhi in would definitely have the potential to get fangirls to swoon, i think thT THERE WERE JUST WAYYYYY better ways to do it like ToT... BUT i think it also feeds into his character of being morally evil/neutral evil, like that IS his sorta vibe, all foreboding and seemingly nice. idkkkkkk the english VA is mfmgmmgnn tho.... like obviously i condemn that but still.....

Man everyone in the episode sucked like the mysoginy was kinda sad to see, I wish they made it so that maybe she would have called them for help instead of making it a woman thing??

LITERALLY!!!!! it made me so viscerally angry when tamaki said "but youre a girl, what made you thinnk you could stand up to them" like SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UPPPPPPP!!! i think the worst thing was hhow haruhi APOLOGISED???? girl always stuck up for herslef but gave in for this episode. i dont think it was very consistent with her character - just to do that- either. it was te casualness of it all, and how even honey-senpai was like "i think you should apologise" bro!!!! what????

"ohshc episode 8 does not exist" im glad it isnt really referenced in later episodes, it makes it easier to forget abt it. i saw sum ppl on pinterest saying they like kyoya more bc of episode 8,,,,, uuhhhh. their reasonig was that haruhi knew he wasnt goiing tp do anything, i g ?
