Hey SpaceSleepers (74): Tour Guiding

As I mentioned last week, a friend of an online friend recently visited New York for a bit because he had a planned trip and I was slotted as the tour guide. I actually don't mind the role of tour guide, which surprises people because everyone always thinks New Yorkers hate tourists. The issue with tourists is not that they exist, it is that certain tourists have the tendency to be very rude and strange to people who live here, the same issue with tourists everywhere. This obviously wasn't the case with the friend that visited since he knows how to act.

I think one of the funniest part about playing tour guide, however, is the fact that I don't care for the landmarks here like the Statue of Liberty. I think my life has been so over-saturated with images of it that I genuinely have no interest in seeing it myself. So to me, I would rather just bring someone who is visiting to all the good spots that I go to with my friends than to somewhere like the Empire State Building because, to me, I see nothing special with the places that have been omnipresent in my life. The second funniest part about playing tour guide is accidentally going tour guide mode and pointing out random places that I like to locals who also go there, something I actually did while walking with my friend who has been going to college here for 3 years (08/20/2024).
