small yu-gi-oh rant

I love Yu-Gi-Oh. I’m mostly a fan of the anime and the characters but I’ve also played a bit of the actual card game. I will say the card game is kind of confusing. I’ve played Yu-Gi-Oh games from Legacy of the Duelist to World Duel Carnival and even a bit of Master and Duel links. (I also have a classic gameboy collection of Yu-Gi-Oh games) But regardless of that I still struggle to get a real understanding of specific mechanisms/mechanics of the game.

Like if I play online it’s just combo after combo (which is fine don’t get me wrong) but I literally can’t tell what’s going on. It’s A LOT. Lowkey why I just watch people play instead of playing online myself. 

But this brings me to the fact that I lowkey wish it was easier to get into the game, like how easy it is to get into the Pokémon tcg. (I LOVE POKÉMON!!!) 

I think the whole competitive part of it is what’s blocking me from “enjoying” the game (even though I’ve had fun playing casual games using only specific mechanics as I learn) like I can see myself going to locals for Pokémon but for Yu-Gi-Oh?? Ehhhhhh 

Still doesn’t diminish my love for Yu-Gi-Oh. I love the og classic way of playing all the way up to xyz but you can’t never get me to understand pendulums and links lol. 

I know it’s probably simple but I’m gonna stick to the anime for now lol and just play the story modes on these games.
