Hey SpaceSleepers (72): Ikea Sleepeasy

My friend and I met up at the Ikea Sleepeasy today and I think it was fun just because I like hanging out with him. He actually just came back yesterday from visiting his family in Hong Kong so I hadn't seen him in a few weeks, which honestly felt like a month. The event itself was pretty nothing in itself, it was very clearly intended as an event meant for influencers to take photos at to post onto their insta feeds. Everything was very much meant for little photo opportunities but, sadly, neither my friend nor I are very photo oriented people. We took silly selfies on the couch while we were eating the bites of food offered by the event, but none in the places meant for photos. It was fun and he also gave me the souvenirs he brought me as well as a few packs of scented tissues since I was looking for them everywhere but have struggled to find any good ones in the US.

We ended up walking to get Shabu-Shabu with his family since they were in the city. I think the most memorable part was when it was raining so heavily that the little glass eating area we were seated in flooded a little from the water coming in from the space in the door. I quite liked the rain because I have always found the sound of hard rain on glass to be very lovely, especially when I am dry myself. I do feel bad for the waiters though. They kept coming out to check on us, using their trays to shield their heads from the rain, yet having to dutifully refuse the umbrellas that the other table was offering them. We left a pretty good tip because it was such a crappy situation for them to be working in but they were so dedicated and we appreciated it (08/18/2024).
