this is gonna be a bit of a rant cuz this has been on my mind since FOURTH GRADE. also if you are going to force religion on me or anyone else i will block you.
a lil tw for anyone who might be sensitive to talk abt "demonic" talk or wtvr u call it :P
i hate, and i mean HATE, when i tell ppl what my religion is and they go "r u gonna summon the devil on me!!?? π" uhm.. no? cuz i dont believe in the devil/satan????? ppl hear the word "satanist" and automatically assume im a devil worshiper when im not, and i can understand why some1 would assume that at first, but making assumptions then treating someone horribly bc they believe in something u have no concept of is wild to me. like u can ask me questions idm just be respectful....
i believe that the reason satanism is so demonized (no pun intended) is due to how media presents it in tv/movies ect. when a character has a "satanist" character they usually try summon the devil and/or kill/harm ppl when that goes COMPLEATLY against our morals!!! we dont harm anyone in anyway unless its for self defense. usually murderers who are reported to scream/say "hail satan" or wtvr ARENT EVEN SATANISTS.
they never have any background of actually being interested in wat satanism ACTUALLY IS and they r just mentally ill ppl who didn't get the treatment they needed... if you kill/harm ppl, children or animals, you are NOT a satanist and are going against what we believe in and it severally harms our rep too.. like how ppl hate the furry community bc of zoos/pr3ds when in reality every fandom has those bad apples, its jst that they get more attention so ppl make bad assumptions. and in media furries are also shown to get.. freaky.. in their suits, despite the fact a LARGE amount of the fandom are minors. (looking at you, CSI.)
I dont think ppl should add characters from certain religions/communities unless they take the time to actually research abt the community so they dont add any misconceptions (like satanists being evil.)

what is your definition of satanism?
From what I've experienced, it is a "religion" born only to combat another (traditional Christianity)
Is there a specific god you worship? Is there a text you follow? Is there a canon?
The definition I see the most online is literally just atheism but with a different name. The reason you may get hate is because instead of being anti-religion in general, you are actively renaming yourself in order to piss off Christians.
I'm actually curious to see if there is a difference, but from what I've read here and online, it's just atheism
i guess its similar to atheism, but not entirely.. like theres still "witchcraft" and a few rules we follow ect.
but basically satanist "do not consider Satan to be a literal being or entity, but a positive archetype representing humanity's natural instincts of pride and carnality" and basically going against religions that try and suppress those, because it just comes w being human tbh
im gonna rip this straight from wiki since im rly bad at wording things myself
we also have rules and stuff like most religions like not to harm children, and not to harm others or animals unless for self defense, or if u kill animals for food/benefit. also to treat others the way they treat you, so if someone is showing you kindness you should be nice back, but if someone is being a horrible person to you, you shouldn't waste all ur positive energy on them or you will basically drain urself and wont have the energy to show urself or other nice ppl kindness. yk self care stuff like that :D
we also very openly support lqbtq+ and r pro choice, so basically conservative satanists don't exist
also a lot of my friends r christian/catholic ect bc i grew up going to lots of religious schools bc my parents r christian but we're all cool w eachother and im not gonna harass them for their beleifs and stuff bc they dont try and force it on me or try convert me/harass me for MY beliefs ^_^ so i dont have a problem w christans as ppl, i just disagree with their beliefs, along with other religions beleifs .. i wouldnt attack them 4 it tho cuz thats mean :3

It will always be that way. Satanism are based on the idealization of Satan, and Cristianity (surprise surprise) have the Devil like the super-villian in his story.
There is not going to be a moment when a religous person understand your arguments, no matter what your try.
The thing that you can actually do, is to get over what that people tells you and keep going your way

As a Christian? (Lil unsure) I agree 100%, people especially Christians always say that shit and look down on anyone who isnβt in there little bubble of βthe good onesβ, every religion who has moral beliefs are valid and shouldnβt be stereotyped as bad (same goes with furries, even tho they lowkey creep me out, but in the way those creepy porcelain dolls creep me out)
