“This is what makes us girls”
“This is so girlhood”
“Girlcore”

“Are you a clean girl or a blah blah blah”
“At least I have large eyes”
“Girlblogger”
“Girlrotting”
Ok ok i get it we are using society’s expectations of women to be underestimated and accepted and we refuse to admit to be sad so we use ironic humor to joke around it but SHUT UP ALREADY
You are not unique. These list of phrases sounds like some sort of magazine. I fucking hate tumblr everyone is a bot trying to compete for followers and likes and reblogs like it’s a market through appealing to the most people as who represents this fantasized objectification of girlhood well enough
Oh my god stop labelling yourself already. No you are not going to be perceived as this girl or that girl. You are not this girl or that girl. You are not literally that character. You are you.
I feel like people think this coquette aesthetic is feminist and it’s a way to express urself without girlhood being objectified by men but the community is not feminist. I mean I thought that’s what it was. No, girlhood is being objectified and worshipped by those in the community like it’s a prized accessory. it is all about being the prettiest, or rotting the most, or being the most sad while pretty, or being the most pure from starving. It is not feminist. These are women competing against each other, trying to be the best girlblogger to make up for their emptiness

I like the whole girlblogger aesthetic, however, I'm extremely critical of it. It only shows a white feminine way of being and romantises eating disorders and mental illness that doesn't challenge patriarchy nor ableism at all. It only pretends to scorn it while playing into it entirely. It's like pseudo-feminisms like white feminism and ''misandrist'' feminism, where as they're counter productive and just plain bad.

THIS THIS THIS. Nothing about this is feminist, at all. It’s become another “not like other girls” trend. We’re indeed only objectifying ourselves, our experiences, our gender and nothing about that is feminist at all. Any space that promotes competition between women is not feminist, period. I see the vision or at least what it was trying to be, but it’s become just another echo chamber.

It’s literally a market. That’s what it is—girlbloggers = business competitors
