SPOILERS‼️‼️‼️‼️
I'm keeping this short and sweet in light of me just watching it a couple hours, but also because I could not be bothered to mak3 an in depth analysis right now. First of, there was no need, in my opinion, for this film to be over two hours long. Don't get me wrong, I came in with high expectations for this project, since everyone and their mom has seen this and it's been so highly acclaimed. But once I hit that hour and a half mark all I wanted to do was for this narration to do something important with itself. It feels long and drawn out, nothing is tightly sitched and message forward except for certain scenes between Tyler(s) and narrations, where I think it the subtext of his destructively bored mentality comes forth beautifully.
By the end of it, I was kinda disappointed at how indulgent it all seemed? The only way I can describe this is the materialization of the authors w%t dream that he's been having long enough to just lightly drizzle some seasoning of critical thinking into the subtext. It's also one of the reasons I attribute it's grossly missinterpreted fanbase of predominantly white boys.
Food for thought, chat?
