Why do TV Channels play nothing good?

Picture this: It's 9am on a Saturday. You wake up; the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and you go out from your room to get some breakfast. After making your favourite breakfast food, you decide you want to eat it with some good ol' Saturday morning cartoons. I mean, what better way to spend a Saturday morning?

You turn on your TV and shuffle through the channels that are available to you. But you don't find anything that interests you. Actually, looking at the guide, there's nothing interesting on for hours! (well, unless you REALLY like Teen Titans GO!). 

This is my problem. In this scenario, you are me. And I am SICK of this. Every day it's the same thing: Disney only plays a bunch of Marvel stuff and the occasional re-run of Big City Greens or Bluey. Cartoon Network is OBSESSED with Teen Titans GO! and random shows that they play EVERYDAY. Sometimes they'll have the occasional good thing, like a Gumball rerun or a new Pokemon episode. But generally, it's the same five shows that play over and over. YTV isn't much better. Nickelodeon is milking Spongebob dry even on live television. Actually, I will give YTV the benefit of the doubt here, as they do indeed have a good lineup and a variety of great shows like Ollie's Pack and Wayside, but then there's the movies that they play at least five times throughout the day. 

Other than YTV, the main problem here is it feels like they're only playing one thing. There's no variety, there's nothing for people who DON'T want to watch TTG 24/7 (AKA the majority). As for YTV, I think the problem lies in that I just don't enjoy a lot of their new shows. So that's a me problem, I'll admit (or maybe their shows just aren't as good). 

Looking back at a YTV schedule from August 16, 2005, we can see that between the times 9am and 9pm (12 hours) there are about TWENTY-FIVE DIFFERENT SHOWS PLAYING (Including Danny Phantom, man I wish that still played on live TV). 

Comparing that to 19 years later, tomorrow (todays) schedule: August 16, 2024, which only has 13 different shows/movies playing. 

I think what these TV programs need is a THROWBACK THURSDAY! As an enjoyer of old-ish cartoons myself, I would LOVE to have a day to watch all of my favourites. Maybe the copy a lineup from the 90s or 2000s? 

Maybe I'm just picky, or old timey, or something I don't know. I'm only 15 here, it's not like I grew up in the 2000s. And, I hate to be this person, but I honestly wish I did. A lot of newer TV shows aren't that good. Actually, Disney's doing a great job over there with Randy Cunningham, Gravity Falls and Amphibia so well done to them. But Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network (does CN even have new shows?) are missing with every hit they take. I think Nick needs to stop making new SpongeBob episodes, stop making spinoffs every two seasons, and start focusing their money and time onto newer shows with potential, such as Ollie's Pack or Fairly OddParents: A New Wish. 

I would like to mention the throwback Thursday idea again. I mean I swear to you if Nick played a bunch of their hit shows from the late 90s/2000s, I would watch that shiz for DAAYYS. And Disney should play some of their older stuff from time to time too, like Recess. More reruns of old-ish newer shows from the 2010s as well, like Gravity Falls and Randy Cunningham. 

Again, I feel like this COULD just be me saying this because I like older shows, but I feel like a lot of people might agree with me so let me know what you think please because I want to know if I'm crazy or if this should happen. I mean, not that it would anyway because these are BIG companies we're talking about, but you know, just to see if people like my ideas. 

extra stuff: on another note, they REALLY should bring back Danny Phantom. I mean, that show was cancelled before they could write a proper season 3. So many questions go unanswered, such as what happened to Valerie after the second to last episode? There was so much potential for that show and I believe if done right, it could be brough back. I mean, it's not like Gravity Falls where the creator doesn't want another season and there's truly not much to work off of for more episode ideas. It could totally work if enough people wanted it to and someone at Nick had the guts to pitch it. I mean, look at A New Wish (fairly oddparents). It's a wonderful show that has the same heart and soul as the older seasons of the original. And it's because of their use of a new character which brings about new problems. But you can tell that the writers actually know the original show that this reboot is from. They aren't absolutely butchering the main ideas of it. We need that but with Danny Phantom. Of course, don't change the characters. You could pick up where it left off; Vlad is still a threat, as he is seen at the end very much alive and just, y'know, in space. Of course, people know his real identity now but Plasmius doesn't give up. He would've come back. And Dani, too. I feel like she could use more screentime and elaboration. She was close to the end so we never saw a lot of her, but I like her character. Maybe an episode where she explores her individuality and how she feels like she has to be like the person she was cloned from (Danny), but then realizes that she is her own person with her own thoughts and opinions (kind of like lil Petey from Dogman). I hope if they do bring this wonderful show back, they don't change the characters or time period (it worked with Fairly OddParents because they had run out of ideas with Timmy and it works with the story too. I don't want some "20 years later and it's his kid!! :O" bullcrap with this man. It just wouldn't work IMO). So yeah, there's my spiel on that. NICKELODEN SHOULD BRING BACK DANNY PHANTOM! At least, they could be on the path to based off of all the good reviews the FoP reboot is getting (and they were originally made by the same creator: Butch Hartman! Which unfortunately has turned out to be a bit of a.. how do I put this.. Really religious guy who should NOT be put back on the show because he regrets making it cuz of the idea of ghosts which combats Christianity beliefs and blah blah blah I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT. Annnywho, time to publish this big mess so no one will see it. Because no one knows me. Because my ideas are air. I could put whatever I want down here and no one would know.
