beautiful
sometimes i wish i were sitting
down underneath a tree
in a quiet field
with nothing on my mind
but you
i wish i could erase you from my mind
sometimes
but i'll never let you go
you've never told me anything i should cling onto
but your words stay on my mind
like footprints in the snow
keep me close
and keep me warm
shield me from the doom that is the storm
and give me a reason to never speak of you again
because i can't find one
hold me tighter than you've ever held yourself
when no one would comfort you
and tell you that you were beautiful
. . .
you're beautiful
the stars
trust my hand and trust my tears
the stars were rather pretty when i told you of the times
i wanted to hug my own knees
and hide from the world
but i also spoke of the wonderful sights
of everything i witnessed on those quiet nights
the animals never sleep
no, they never do
the owls saw everything you couldn't see
but if you decide to live while the rest sleep
then you will be an owl
you will grow wings and soar
well past what the humans perceive as the end of the world
the horizon is your limit
and it does not exist
all of this talk scares you
but you do not refrain from listening
you've never told me what you did that day
when all the others walked away
and you were left to comfort yourself
did you cry?
i hear your sobs
the water remembers
the stars gazed upon you
the moon noticed your sorrow
you weren't alone
but did everyone else think that you could
make it by yourself
does everything you ever do feel kind of pointless
while also feeling sharp and hurtful
do you ever wonder if you're truly kind
or actually just a person
with caring words in their vocabulary
the stars know the truth
they'll never tell you
curious friend
the man was still, never animated
apart from a slow turn of the paper
of a book he was waiting to read
every now and then
his brow furrows at the realisation
that his feline friend
had found itself atop the man's armrest
his jaw stiffens, he huffs out a frustrated breath
that silly cat
always trying to peek
into the man's brain
wondering how the silly human
could stare at the funny lines
on the weirdly cut brick
that felt so nice to sit on
the man remained seated
too invested in the silly lines
to bother his curious companion
who remained close
peering into the paper
every now and then
the man flicks over the page
and the fuzzy black ball with eyes
extends a paw to its human
to play with the loose string of his clothing
the realisation of his jacket thread
being out of the place it was designated for
made him sigh out quietly
and push the small arm away from him
with the pitter of four toe beans
landing on the wooded floor
the man raised a brow
and focused his eyes below
at the confused ball of hair with ears
who brushed against his legs
he let out a breath
that came out as more of a chuckle
he began to speak
the language of the silly squiggles
the little animal
tilts its head
and listens
silly cat
doesn't understand
probably will upload some more, soon!!
these were fun to write :D
thanks for reading, stranger <3
