A Tábua de Esmeralda - Jorge Ben Jor

A Tábua de Esmeralda is the eleventh studio album by Brazilian singer Jorge Ben. It was released on LP in 1974. The album blends psychedelic samba and bossa nova, featuring joyful and passionate lyrics, immersing you in a colorful and very Brazilian universe.

Construção

"Construção" is an album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Chico Buarque, released in 1971 and composed between Chico's exile in Italy and his return to Brazil. Lyrically, the album is replete with criticism of the current military regime, particularly regarding government-imposed censorship ("Cordão") and the appalling state of individual living conditions in the country ("Construction"), as well as some more classic and personal songs ("Valsinha" and "Minha História"). The album features a rusty bossa nova, full of vibrations and tension, portraying the era (military dictatorship) and presenting the profound thoughts of a Brazilian.

Cartola

Cartola is the second studio album by Rio de Janeiro samba artist Cartola, released in 1976. An album rich in lyrics, with melancholic poetry and a sickly samba, very characteristic of a soundtrack to a sad scene from a Brazilian film.

Jorge Ben

Jorge Ben is the sixth studio album by Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jorge Ben. It was released in November 1969 by Philips Records. The album was his first recording for a major label since 1965, when his time with Philips ended due to initial creative differences. The best example of what a psychedelic samba would be, full of classic and joyful lyrics, with expressive guitar and fantastic melodies, a delirium of joy, immersing you in what would be a Brazilian dream (like the American dream).

Krig-ha, Bandolo!

Krig-ha, Bandolo! is the first solo album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Raul Seixas, recorded and released by Philips (now Universal Music) on July 21, 1973. Wow, this album is perfect. I don't even know what to say. It defines me in absolutely every way. The songs are brilliant, the lyrics are perfect. Everything about this album is captivating, like being high without having used anything. Mixing elements of country, jazz, and I don't know what else, it's simply incredible.

Clube da Esquina

Clube da Esquina is a studio album produced by the Brazilian musicians known as Clube da Esquina, led by singer-songwriters Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges, to whom the album is credited. It thus becomes Milton Nascimento's fifth studio album and the first for Lô Borges, who would later pursue a solo career with his own works. The album was released in Brazil on LP in 1972 by EMI-Odeon. A divine experience, profound lyrics, various musical genres in a single album, plenty of emotion and everything else—it's an experience!

Tim Maia

Tim Maia is the fourth studio album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Tim Maia, released by Phonogram, through the Polydor label, in July 1973. The recordings were made at the CBD studios in Rio de Janeiro, between March and July of the same year. The album is considered one of the greatest moments in Tim Maia's career and features two major hits: "Réu Confesso," by the Rio de Janeiro singer himself, and "Gostava Tanto de Você," by Edson Trindade. A wonderful experience of soul, jazz, and everything Tim could offer; he is a genius. Songs with deep rhythms, impeccable arrangements, and a feeling that you are living the best that life has to offer.

Gal Costa

Gal Costa is the debut studio album of Brazilian singer Gal Costa's solo career, released in 1969. The singer had already participated in two previous collective releases: Domingo, accompanied by Caetano Veloso, and Tropicália ou Panis et Circencis, a landmark of the Tropicalist movement. Listening to this album is like experiencing a summer romance, being in a soap opera, breathing in the sunset (even if it's not possible), it's the experience of being immersed in the feeling of love and the fear of life's dangers.

Musicas para Churrasco

"Musicas para Churrasco , Vol. 1" is an album by Brazilian musician Seu Jorge, released in 2011[2][3] and distributed by Universal Records. It's literally that, it's like being at a Brazilian barbecue, it's like living intensely, smelling the food and being in the midst of a big, happy, laughing family. The lyrics are cheerful, melodic, and danceable, with a lively guitar playing in the background. It's pagode, it's Brazil.

Saudosa Maloca

Adoniran Barbosa, stage name of João Rubinato (Valinhos, [note 2] August 6, 1912 – São Paulo, November 23, 1982), was a Brazilian composer, singer, comedian, and actor, author of famous songs such as "Trem das Onze," "Tiro Ao Álvaro," "Saudosa Maloca," and "Samba do Arnesto." The very definition of laughing and being happy despite adversity is incredible. This album is incredible, and there's nothing more I can say; it's a joyful samba full of bitterness.

Lua

"Luar" (A Gente Precisa Ver o Luar) is an album by Gilberto Gil, released in 1981 by Warner Bros. This album is like dancing on the moon, like living the life of a protagonist in a children's soap opera; it's absolutely danceable and full of lessons.

Sobrevivendo no Inferno

Sobrevivendo no Inferno is the second studio album by Brazilian rap group Racionais MCs. It was released by the Cosa Nostra label on December 20, 1997. This album is exactly what the title says. If you think being Brazilian is happy, you're mistaken. This album is the definition of that. Brazilian rap is full of culture and pain, bringing the experiences of our peripheries and the darkest feelings within the heart of every Brazilian. It's about reality, about statistics. The lyrics on this album are like bullets. Everything is rich and powerful, absolutely powerful.

Babylon de Gus (o ano do macaco)

Considered one of the best albums in Brazilian rap history, Gus's Babylon, Volume 1: The Year of the Monkey is comprised of twelve tracks, almost all written by Black Alien and Alexandre Basa, the project's producer. The exception is "América 21," a collaboration between the MC and Rhossi. With cutting and emotional lyrics, this album leaves you feeling grounded. Beyond the reality portrayed, there's plenty of art and incredible arrangements that make you feel like the protagonist of a war story, albeit one with its own small joys.

Ave Sangria

Ave Sangria is the debut album by Brazilian rock band Ave Sangria, released in 1974. In short, the best that Brazilian psychedelic rock has to offer, it's like being in a northeastern dream, it's like being delirious, it's heavy, it's like feeling that smell of rusty dust from a broken blade, it's incredible.

Eu Não Sou Santo

Bezerra da Silva, the monstrous saint of coconut and the "populist party," sang like no other about the hardships, the miseries, the setbacks, the twists and turns, the cheating, the dirty tricks, the irreverence, and the madness of the people who are beaten by the state, the police, and life every day. In short, when I die, I want this album to be played at my funeral. A comedic samba, full of jokes and puns that only a Brazilian would understand, it's our lives portrayed on a record. It's poetry and provocation, it's samba.

Alucinação

Alucinação is the second studio album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Belchior, released in 1976 by PolyGram, through the Philips label[1] (now Universal Music). It features hits that made the singer famous, such as "Apenas um Rapaz Latino-Americano", "Como Nossos Pais" and "Velha Roupa Colorida".[1] Thanks to these hits, the album sold thirty thousand copies in just one month.[2] In total, the album sold over five hundred thousand copies, consecrating him as a mass idol. This album is the outburst of a 30-year-old Brazilian at a bar counter, full of sadness, regional tours, ambitions, dreams of love, delusions, the desire to escape death and the feeling of being lost in the night.

Aí Tem

Luiz Gonzaga - Aí Tem Gonzagão (1988) - Estilhaços Discos. Obviously I would have to mention Forró, it's even difficult to choose JUST ONE Gonzaga album, it's impossible to decide, but this album here is incredible, there's no way to describe it, just listening to it makes me feel happy, like at a "São João" party.

Mamonas Assassinas

Mamonas Assassinas is the debut album and only studio album recorded by Brazilian comedy rock band Mamonas Assassinas. The album was released on June 23, 1995, and sold over 3 million copies in Brazil alone, receiving a triple diamond certification according to the ABPD. Despite the silly cover art, this album is incredible, blending several musical genres and pleasing almost every Brazilian. It's incredible, I don't know how to describe it. I wish everyone heard it!

Os Mutantes

Os Mutantes is the debut album by the Brazilian psychedelic rock band of the same name. It was released on LP in June 1968 and reissued on CD in 1992 and 2006 by Polydor Records, and was released in the US by Omplatten Records and later (in 2006) by Universal Records. It is considered one of the most important albums in the history of Brazilian music, featuring an innovative sound for its time, blending elements of Brazilian music with psychedelic and experimental rock and utilizing various studio techniques, forming part of the Tropicalist movement. It was ranked 9th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest albums in Brazilian music. The best Brazilian psychedelic rock album of all time, that's all I have to say.
