My groupchat with five of my friends has been passively discussing My Deer Friend Nokotan. Obviously, it isn't being discussed more than Dungeon Meshi, considering we talk about it so much that there is a separate groupchat dedicated to it, but in passing, I have seen my friend Josie and Delta talk about it a little. Well I found a bunch of the episodes posted to YouTube, which means that I can indulge in the interest a little! I streamed a bit of it on a server that I am on so that I can watch it (I have a tendency to feel more driven to watch shows when other people are also watching). I really like the anime from what I have seen of the three episodes currently on YouTube. I think it's really silly and I thought the jokes were silly. It reminds me of a lot of slice of life stuff I used to watch with a lot of Japanese reference, except due to the popularization of the internet, there are a few little internet memes. There were quite a few jokes that are meant to poke at the regular tropes often seen in anime. I think Torako is really funny as a straight man to Nokotan's behavior because Noko seems so unaffected by her own shenanigans. There is an unspoken implication that Noko is trans because she has antlers, a feature often seen on male deer. What direction is dependent on what you think but I like the thought that she's a trans girl because I think it would be nice to think they let her wear a girl's uniform (08/15/2024). — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
