Alternates are fucking terrifying: a rant

I feel like nobody really thinks about how absolutely horrifying alternates really are.

They are horrific creatures, entities that pretend to be human, pretend to be the people you trust, and the fucking second you let your guard down you will wish you were dead.

They torment you, mock you, torture you, using nothing but their ability to mimic voices and the knowledge they possess to drive you to suicide.

They drive you insane until your only option is taking your own life.

Do you have any fucking idea how long it takes to make suicide someone’s only option!?

It took almost 2 and a half years for me to develop any kind of suicidal thoughts, and I never thought of it as my only option.

As far as we are aware, it can take less than a week for an alternate to drive you to that point, nevermind Jonah, who could only tolerate it for such a short period of time that Adam could walk to the car Jonah had been driving.

And I get that a good chunk of the reason they’re so good at what they do is because of their creator and what he’s done- Lucifer. 

I get that the whole ‘who have I been praying to all this time’ is a direct result of the literal death of God himself.

I get that being trapped in your room for days on end hearing nothing but the voices of friends and family telling you horrible lies that you believe and truths you don’t want to hear is going to have a serious effect on you.

I get that.

But that’s still fucking terrifying.

And that’s completely ignoring their appearance.

We saw alternate Thatcher. We saw N. We saw The Preacher. We saw alternate Cesar. 

Hell, we saw Lucifer himself.

Seeing that in real life would send the fear of god into you.

Especially if it was disguised as someone you love.

Even more so if it was you.

They know your worst fears, your guilts, your weaknesses, your flaws, your insecurities, your nightmares, everything about you.

They see every single minuscule crack in the wall and they’ll punch it down with their bare claws till all that’s left is a broken shell of a human.

They’ll destroy you until all that’s left is a desperate husk.

To the point where Mark Heathcliff took his gun 

and opened the door.

Despite knowing that it was suicide.

He knew what was on the other side.

And he still opened that god damn door.

You would have to be absolutely fucking devastated to do something like that.
