sweet potatoes

can someone plssss tell me why tf sweet potatoes are called sweet potatoes bc like they're not even sweet😭😭 you have to make them sweet, obviously that's what candied yams are, but they're not even yams 1st of all, and second you can LITERALLY DO THE SAME THING WITH A BASIC ASS POTATO💀💀💀 like what do sweet potatoes even taste like???? whatever it is it's not sweet. in fact why don't we just call them orange potatoes lmao that would be good they don't deserve the "sweet" title💔💔💔 idk maybe i just don't understand potatoes like that but like those are my two cents
