CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ABT THE CURRENT STATE OF SPACEHEY!

this is going to sound like ragebait, but i guarantee you it is not.

this site barely feels like the myspace revival i looked for. it's "woke" to say the least. people have long DNI lists and are so sensitive.

there's two types of ppl on here. we have ppl looking to relive myspace again and enjoy the old web. those ppl are mostly chill. then we have the younger teens that r only here for the customizable profiles. they're mostly annoying >__<

myspace from what i've seen and researched was mainly a social media revolved around music media and popular with the millennials of the early to mid 2000s. i know it was popular with emo and scene kids. i wasn't around for it since i'm a gen z so don't take my word as absolute fact.

spacehey is nothing like the aforementioned myspace. we have drama every week, crybabies, and xe/xem/rat/bug people... while spacehey is a social media that everyone is allowed to use, it's a shame to see these younger teens use it like ur modern social medias whenever its literally labeled the "retro social network".

while it's nice to have boundaries and have an accepting community, let fucking loose on here. don't get so offended over every single thing. heck, the 2000s was a very racist, homophobic, and transphobic time. it's good that we've gotten better. but chill. this is supposed to be a site like myspace. this is supposed to replicate the old web.

i guess to end this off, im just saying, embrace the traditional web and stop being so damn sensitive. stay safe out there.

LOL, you’re totally right about what you said. Back in the day, people casually tossed around words like 'faggot' without a second thought and it didn't seem to bother anyone. Offense wasn’t taken so easily back then. Myspace was heavily focused on music, especially within the core scene where metalcore and deathcore bands thrived. Many of those bands gained their initial fame by sharing their music on Myspace. While Spacehey does have some similar features like embedding music players and customizing profiles, it still feels like it’s missing a lot of the essential functionalities that made the old Myspace so vibrant. Things like dedicated band profiles, concert listings, music charts, and the ability to recommend songs to friends really brought the community together. It’s a bit of a bummer!

But you’ve got to consider that people evolve, likes and dislikes change, things like that. Sure Spacehey was created as a MySpace ‘revival’ however that wasn’t the only reason for its creation.

And for the ‘younger teens’ and their customisable profiles, it’s definitely not the only reason someone would use Spacehey. For example, I love the customisation on this site, but the main reason I’m not here is because I can meet new people similar to me, and actually be myself without having to fear someone in my school will find out.
And plus you can’t really complain about the customisable profiles because MySpace had them (and people may have joined it for the customisation ability then too), and because you have one as well. And if you actually researched, in the about section on here, it actually says that Spacehey is a retro social network focused on privacy and customizability. You see there.

Plus anyways, people can do what they want as long at it’s not breaking rules, and can join for whatever reason.

(Also, the way you said ‘xe/xem/rat/bug people’, is kinda transphobic)

But the reality is, things change and it's not going to be how it was. Those who are alternative still include young people who are exploring themselves. I don't like drama either, but I think our time spent on regular social media has ruined our brains a little.

I don't think this site would have been as you imagined unless there were only former MySpace users.

I wouldn't say that the site is "woke", I feel if it was on a spectrum, it would be in the middle of the 'seesaw'.

As I saw in your blog; people are nervous to go wild like nowadays. Yeah, modern websites have those stupid moderation like "Don't say fucko' to French, you bucko!" Can't believe this site is filled with mostly DNI blogs.

Never had MySpace account either and I am all with you. People, go wild! Let us go wild on this site! And I hope it'll at least get better as the time will go on.

(P.S: There was/is a drama every week over here? I wonder which one was here recently...)
