does anyone else just have an irrational fear of shein and temu, like i just dont feel comfortable owning things from there. this goes beyond their more than questionable ethics; i genuinely feel like im going to die if i come into contact with one of their products. this extends past the stuff thats fresh from their warehouses, it applies to second hand stuff that originally came from them too. now i know that there have been reports of harsh chemicals and heavy metals being found in their products and stories upon stories of people getting rashes and chemical burns and what not from their products, but i highly doubt that this is where my fear comes from as i usually brush stuff like this off quite easily because it usually comes down to a rare accident or some kind of circumstantial thing that causes it which then gets blown out of proportion to give a more entertaining news story. i dont know what it is about shein and temu specifically but theyre the only ones that do this for me, sites like amazon dont scare me, my only real concerns for them is just stuff like scams and my information being sold.Β

help me.

I'd like to compare it as to being deathly allergic to those companies and their low quality products. They are companies you MUST avoid at all costs or else someone ends up paying the price (in this case, it's the poor children in overseas sweatshops).

i feel similar but i mainly donβt like wearing the clothes bc i just know what iβm wearing isnβt well made and i feel cheap >,< tht mainly only applies for makeup/fashion from there bc a lot of the accessories/gadgets i feel like r fine and the same as youβd buy in a shop just cheaper bc straight from the manufacture, but i have a shein n i refuse to make a temu cos i donβt wanna give anotherrr one my details
βπ« i got a cute top from the charity shop n aaaa i donβt wana wear it bc itβs from shein n i didnβt notice when i bought it ughhh (β_β)-`α¦Β΄-
its probably better you dont make a temu cause its owned by a company that got exposed for doing shady shit with its users information (or atleast they used to own it im not sure if they still do).

NO CUZ I FEEL THE SAME. Mine isnt exactly a "fear" though, its more of a guilt. i think for me its mainly due to the way they treat their workers, minors that also work there, and them stealing designs from artists.. I once thrifted something that was originally from shien and this was the only time ive done that but i just felt so guilty bc i knew where it came from and how the workers are treated
everyone i have around at school buys from shien and temu and i hate it, even when i tell them abt everything they still buy from there and it feels gross..
all my friends buy off of sites like shein, temu and aliexpress and they literally made jokes about it one time...

Eugh.. why do ppl find it funny to joke abt horrible things, especially while supporting it too
like there r so many other cheep places to get clothes and stuff! ppl who say they dont thrift because the clothes there arent cute or fashionable jst dont know how to style stuff cuz theres so much good stuff at places like that that isnt a bazillion bucks for just 1 shirt.. its not that hard to do layering or styling with things from places like that, and besides i think you should value someones life and working conditions over the shirt you want to get.. its just a shirt :(

i think a lot of people forget that not everything is instant and that building a good wardrobe takes time, especially if you dress any kind of alternative.

This is how I feel about swivel chairs. All it took was ONE video of how it exploded and killed someone and now I get nervous near one. And those are the only chairs my mom buys
