It's so nice to be back.
So, not much early in the week, but I will talk about the latter half.
Thursday night I decided to watch X-Men (2000). Man, I just love the way old movies look. Everything is so warm and pretty. The colors are full and not washed out. Also, gotta love that sci-fi Y2K aesthetic. One thing I found funny about this movie was that when characters got hit by something, they would be flung back dramatically. I don't know what's so funny about that to me lol. It just feels like movies try to be too realistic and gritty these days. Hopefully Hollywood can let go of that idea soon.
On Friday, my mom called to let me know that my apartment was willing to let me move in on Saturday. It was a hard choice since I hate doing things with little notice, but I decided we should. After a long drive, and one pit stop, we made it. It was quite tiring! I was able to meet my roommates, then we got to work putting together my room. After a while, we took a little break for some Chick-fil-A and then resumed. Once we finished setting up my bedroom, we went to the Business School for my sister and then said our goodbyes. I was quite tired, so I opted to stay in for the night.
The first night is always hard for me. I had a hard time falling and staying asleep. The windows of my apartment face the road (and a Subway parking lot). Therefore, I heard a lot of loud car engines and horns. My mom plans to get me a white noise machine to help with potential noises. I slept a bit better last night, which likely means I'm getting used to it.
Yesterday, I went out to get a few things, including another amber light bulb to help light up my room. We brought a bulb for one of the lamps, but its light isn't sufficient for the whole room. The new light bulb helps illuminate the room properly and both bulbs give my room a pleasant warm glow, which is absent in most lights today. I miss incandescent bulbs, but these work amazingly and are more energy efficient. I had to drive to Home Depot to get the light bulb, which was a little bit difficult since I didn't know my way around yet. I got turned around multiple times.
Hopefully, I can do better later on. Sometime this week I need to drive to where my golf class will be. I also hope to go to a bunch of events this week to mingle and meet new people. That's the great thing about being a part of such a large university, there's always someone new!
Also, I currently can't connect to the Wi-Fi in my apartment right now! Guess I'll have to fix that too...
Tchau,
