Quentin Torrentino

This is a guide to torrenting(or at least, everything I know about it). Read this if you want to download better. Or if I did something terribly wrong and you want to correct me! I can handle criticism.

By the way, torrenting is banned in most places, so good luck! Where is it banned? Almost everywhere. So even though this is a guide, for all purposes, I don't condone any of this.

Anyways, download a bittorrent client. There's a lot of them, but bittorrent itself is praised pretty universally. Transmission works for me, although I don't really know what the differences are, so do your own research. Stop reading and get on a search engine already! Ask a weird friend and get a weird answer.

A bittorrent client allows you to download torrent files. Torrent files themselves are very small(usually KB-MB), but contain information on how to get the files. The client does all the work once you open the file, and will download it P2P from anyone else who's currently seeding it. By downloading it, you are a leech- both to anyone downloading it and on the world at large.

How do you get a .torrent file? Well, if you go to the pirate bay, you can't get one since i don't condone it. You can get a magnet link that can be clicked on to open a torrent file in the bittorrent client, but i don't condone that. Plus, it doesn't work like that in Tor, so you'd need to do something stupid like copy the magnet link, and paste it in with a certain prefix I don't know or condone. I really don't condone the pirate bay! Mods, take note of this.

For a good torrent file, go to archive.org because i condone archives and libraries. Go to the item you want- let's say you want the Ghost Stories Dub- and check the right side for downloads. Download the torrent file, but ONLY after reading the reviews! Please read them. Don't be dong.

We have a .torrent, and we have a client! Mesh them together and you'll be downloading in no time. You're downloading not from the site or the file, but from anyone on the net who's currently hosting the file(a seeder). You, the leech, are grabbing various bits of the files from all connected seeders in the way that .torrent tells you so, and it also arranges them into a coherent file(like Mike from Willy Wonka). Once you're done leeching, you can leave... but that'd make you a leech, and an asshole at that. Instead, leave it open for a while and contribute with the seeders so that others download faster. There's a ratio of how much you download/upload(leech/seed) somewhere, and keep it high. Otherwise, you're an asshole and everyone hates you.

Now you have your files. Maybe they'll work, maybe they won't, maybe they're fake, maybe they're just a screenshot, and maybe they're malware. You read the reviews, right? This is YOUR risk, and I don't condone it.

By the way, read another guide, and read up on wikipedia. Maybe there's good youtube videos or something, or maybe you have a friend who wastes their life with bits and bytes. Don't you ever trust a single source for something that could lead to malware.

tl;dr, read the blog damn it.
