I've always felt a strong, almost spiritual connection to anything gnome-related. At one point in my childhood I tried convincing some classmates that I was part gnome (I'm was really small as a kid and am still kinda short, my father is short, his dad is even shorter AND has a big white beard! Gnome, I say!). So now I can do whatever the fuck I want and I wanna be a gnome! So I made two gnome hats, and here's how I made em.
- I measured the circumference (all the way around) of my head, then added an inch. (example: my head was 23 inches, plus 2 equals 25 inches)
- I drew a triangle where the base is half of my measurement (so around 12.5 inches for the base)
- I made the top of the triangle either A. 13 inches tall from the base for my tall hat OR about 7 inches tall from the base for my short hat (both pictured below)
- I cut out these templates and use them to cut out 2 copies of said template in felt
- I sewed the two pieces of fabric together on the sides, leaving the base open.
- Flip the hat inside out so the seams are inside, you'll want to wear it this way (or maybe don't if you're feeling extra cool :D )
And voila! That's how I made my hats! Sorry I didn't think to take pix during my process, I just kinda did it quick :P
And here's how they turned out (also to do the brim of the hats I just flipped the bottoms inside out):

Hope y'all enjoyed my gnome hat tutorial!! Happy crafting!

Thanks!! It's turquoise and I wanna say some kind of shell, but it is in silver. I'll have to ask my mom, she knows her jewelry and stones very well
