like idk for some reason i genuinely like talking to adults 😕 like i have an ex who was like 24 or 25 or maybe even 26 idk how old he is atm but i used to friend him then my bsf would convince me to block him but like then i would go back to talking to him bc i genuinely liked the convos we had 😞😞 like maybe bc it's easier to have a convo w someone whos like... more mature? idk does this make me seem weird? like ive talked to many adults and sometimes i enjoy our convos more than convos i have w ppl my age 😭 yall is this weird??

Are you the youngest child in your family? because as someone who is the youngest, i think being surrounded by adults made being friends with people my age very boring because I never related to them. I dont think its odd or wrong, but depending how much older they are, it can be a problem

my closest friends are now freshman in college (met them in high school) but they're literally only 18 and when i first hung out with them it was weird feeling but now we r so close so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i dont feel weird at all

being friends with adults is fine if you know what to expect. i was the same before i became an adult myself, but you just need to be cautious about who you interact with and take the necessary steps to cut contact with them if they begin to act really weird and such with you.

It's not weird, I'm the same. They're more mature, it's like a breath of fresh air to talk to someone who is more mature. As long as it's not sexual or romantic at all then it is fine.

i have the same thing, i don’t really start conversations with much adults apart from family members or like school teachers or anyone i genuinely just kinda meet but its so much easier to talk to them for me. I’m actually gifted and my therapist (a therapist specialised in gifted kids and teens) claims i’m mentally like 18-24 years old or so, that explains it for me, if i actually think like an 18 year old then it makes sense i get along better with older people. Even if you’re not gifted or anything some people genuinely just get along better with older or younger people. Most people my age are always just gossiping and being like “Omg i swear James kissed Sarah at that school event” and im just like… uhh bro James hasn’t even spoken to that girl once why would he do that and then they just say like “oooh yeah no Mary just told me that” and with adults you can just speak about things other then random gossip things, video games or whatever your friends are into. You can actually hang out peacefully in a cafe and speak about actual stuff instead of going to the shops to shoplift (i’ve never done it but like everyone my age does it) and then play video games inside all day
damn just read some of the other comments here i swear all of them say “don’t get groomed and its weird of the adult to be friends with you” i honestly don’t really think its true as i think you’re perfectly capable of choosing your friends and i’ve also had friends that were like 3 years younger then me and we got along perfectly and neither of us has ever felt uncomfortable by it if i were to be an adult i’d be perfectly fine with being friends with a teen if i felt that we got along nicely you know? I don’t really think age is such a big thing unless you’re like dating someone 7 years older then you when you’re under 18 or something like that but honestly i wouldn’t even make a big deal out of that if the relation is healthy and cool and all

there are unfortunately many adults that want to harm children by grooming them etc.
as an adult, i don't want to be friends with children, even 18 and 19 year olds is weird for me personally.

It's okay to be friends with adults, but if any of them ever even hint at them thinking about you romantically or sexually, then you're being groomed and you should try to get away from that person. I hope you'll be safe.

being friends with adults isn't a bad thing, but what that man did to you was grooming. a friendship with someone who's significantly older than you should be a mentorship scenario, or the way you're friends with a coworker.
i get struggling to connect with people your age, everyone has that issue ESPECIALLY during turning points. but it's important to keep yourself safe first & foremost. i hope he didn't do anything too harmful to you & you meet better people <3

i gasped reading this, im sorry. i was once like this when i didnt realize it was wrong to refer to an adult over 24 years old as young. its really weird especially if he was an ex online bf as if you guys never met irl. thats never a good thing, its just gross. idk if ur a minor but he is not, be aware pls that it could be illegal! dw if you didnt realize it was wrong, its ok as long as ur not DATING them but as friends, idk im js saying and find people that is mature enough at ur age! take care :)

i mean- if you dated, it was kinda weird. but not on your part, yk? like, the adult was weird. Friendships with adults are cool, had a bunch of them in the quarentine and all that because of games and stuff! They're just people, older, but just people. i also used to b like that when i was a teen! turns out im probs just autistic BUT its not weird on ur part! dont forget that ur spending most of ur time around adults thru school and living w parents, which makes it feel more natural. its mostly odd and creepy from the adults reciprocating !!! the power imbalance between u and them is staggering and u wont notice until ur older so i would 100% recommend staying VERY wary and careful of anyone who goes to seek any more than a platonic chat. stay safe out here !!!
