Personal Favorites Albums

For me I can’t really rank albums, I have so many that I love so much and my love for them always fluctuates so putting them in a definitive tiered positions is hard 

So I’m just gonna name a few of them and my thoughts on them/artist/anything else that comes to mind

• Vespertine by Björk: I know I just went on a “I can’t rlly rank them 🤓” rant but Vespertine is definitely my favorite album of all time. Björk creates such a chilling, haunting, and desolate atmosphere while keeping the lyrics very warm, vulnerable, and emotional. A genuine masterpiece with little to no flaws. My favorites songs are probably, Cocoon, Pagan Poetry, Hidden Place, and the most underrated track Heirloom. Björk’s entire discography is goated, the only mainline albums from her that I haven’t listened to yet are Fossora and Utopia. When I first started listening to Björk I would only listen to the next album if I was in the same place (mentally) that Björk was when she made them, Corny but effective in getting me to appreciate the albums more. So for that reason I haven’t listened to Utopia because I’m not in a loving mood. Last time I had feelings for someone (Vespertine) He completely ruined my life and how I think n view myself (Vulnicura). We’re still good friends and I’ll never tell him how deeply he affected me but god I wish none of it happened, anyways next album

• Versions of A Modern Performance by Horsegirl: This album genuinely opened my eyes to music, before this album I was only rlly listing to pop/rnb/whatever was on the radio. But one day my Spotify feed gave me this recomendacion and I’ve been in love since the first second. This album just sounds so rusty and grimy. Not necessarily “grimy” in a death metal/crust punk kinda way but in an abandoned warehouse that has been reclaimed by nature kinda way if that unintelligible word vomit made any sense. I’m Just a slut for discordant guitars n drums with very pretty vocals. My favorite songs are probably, Beautiful Song, Option 8, Fall of Horsegirl, and Anti-glory. I’m sure there’s probably many albums in the same genre that are “much better” than this one but please if you’re at all considering listening to it I beg you to do it, this album is very important to me and I can’t share it with any of my irl friends cause none of them fuck with this type of shit 😭😭(except for one of them but I’m not super close with her yet to be music sharing out of the blue)

• Speak For Yourself by iMOGEN HEAP: mmmm whatcha sayyy, mmm that you only meant welllll????? Well of course you did. mmmmm watcha sayyyyyy, what did u sayyyyyyy????yy???y???y?? ay ay ay ay. He he ha ha’s aside this is such an amazing album. iMOGEN blends her beautifull vocals, classical instruments, and that art pop electronic sound perfectly. Some say that this album isn’t perfect and they may technically be right but god there’s maybe 2 songs on this Album that don’t go fucking crazy. My favorite tracks are, Headlock, Just for now, Goodnight and Go, and Clear the Area. 

I may come back some other time and talk abt some more albums I like but for now I’m done cause I don’t wanna write no more, I hope yall enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing, if not then oh well, too bad, womp womp, + yb better (so sad this meme died still so funny to me) bye bye for now
