Why do I have the job I do?
I work with kids at an after school learning program. I help with math, but my preference is for anything algebra and up. (I am a super nerd, who does math for fun. Once, I hand calculated out Pascal's triangle and make my own problems to solve.) I help with reading, until it gets too high and irritating. I like to read, I don't like to interpret reading. Too subjective.
Kids love me, but I honestly don't like most of them. The only reason I keep this job is because the bosses are so chill. I can call off if I have a migraine and not be scared of being fired. They're chill (we talk and stuff a lot), stand up for me being transmasc (I told them a kid said his dad had told him I "wasn't a real guy" and she said if he keeps that up they'll kick him), and actually recognize their employees (I get straight up told I'm doing well, they thank me for my work, etc).
But god I hate dealing with these kids. We're treated like a babysitting service. I don't want to care for or raise the kids, I just want to math. These parents, sometimes... ugh.
