TW: MENTIONS OF SUICIDE, OVERDOSE, KIDNAPPING, AND OTHER GENERAL MANDELA CATALOGUE STUFF.

The Mandela catalogue is my special interest, therefore i am qualified to do this

When you actually think about it, the Murray family has been through so much bullshittery. I genuinely think this singular family of three has been through more alternate encounters than any other single group of people other than the cops. (we’ll get to the BPS later.)

For the sake of my sanity, we are going to count Intruder as an alternate.

Let’s start from the beginning:

Intruder kidnaps (and replaces) baby Adam, and Lynn Murray (Adam’s mother) hangs herself. That’s 2 deaths, and one alternate encounter already. (I’ll tally it all up at the end dw)

A little after that, the police arrive. Thatcher and Ruth go into the house, investigate a little, and at some point come across Lynn Murray’s body, which is how they figure out that it’s a suicide. Later, Ruth disappears- that’s another death. (While not a family member, her death was related to the Murray Household so im going to count it.) Thatcher also interacts with an alternate- the same alternate that leads him to jump out the window and likely the one that follows him home later. (Probably the same one that killed Ruth as well, so we’ll count it as one encounter)

Likely after that, Jude Murray (Adam’s father) runs away to that triangular house, (likely in an attempt to run away from all the stuff going down in Mandela County) and as he is finally leaving the house that night, so close to an escape- guess what happens!! Thatchers Doppelgänger is at the door, and stops him. That’s another encounter. The next (night? day? It’s not super clear.) wanna know what happens again????? He goes downstairs and has a run-in with out boy, Nicholas Beringer, aka: N, who is a flawed impersonator, so guess what?!?!? That’s another fucking encounter. Jude later dies via overdose of his Timoril, his fictional anxiety medication. It’s unknown if this was a suicide attempt or if he just took way to many because he was to anxious to realize the consequences at the time. So, another death.

Now, we get on to the star of the show, everyone’s favorite alternate, Adam Murray. 

I’m not counting every interaction someone has with Adam as an alternate encounter because that’s stupid and i would go insane but believe me when i say i definitely thought about it

Only Lucifer knows how many encounters he’s actually had, because we know he’s been working with the BPS for long enough that he is wanted by the god damn FBI, so we are only counting canon encounters.

The first encounter he has had that we actually know of is with the door hands alternate(s). So, that’s an encounter. Worth noting that he has definitely had encounters while hunting with Sarah before this, since this was her last straw and when she stopped working with him. (Not as dramatic as the rest when i type it out like this, but no one died so)

The second one we know of is the one with Jonah- Adam go into the house and all that, gets footage, whatever- that not important.

Later, he has a fun little run in with The Preacher. So guess what???? Another fucking encounter 

Later again he goes into the basement (to Jonah’s dismay) and has an encounter with his not dad The Intruder. I was wondering if I should count this one, but they do interact, even if it’s not direct. So, that’s another encounter.

Jonah meanwhile, is….. ya know…. In the car at this point in time. He’s driving away, and eventually commits suicide with an unknown method due to mockery either from an alternate that got into his car or due to the intruder. Either way, that’s an encounter and a death.

Adam later (in vol 4) has an actual direct interaction with his not dad The Intruder, which I’ll count as yet another encounter. This is when he discovers that he’s actually an alternate. It’s also when i started actually being afraid of the intruder. he sounds and looks so goddamn creepy I cannot be blamed for my fear

Anyway later thatcher finds him and brings him to the police station (I assume) which is about when we all decided that thatcher illegally adopted him which is completely fair on our part 

Anyway I’ll count that as another encounter 

So that’s that. Here’s the official count of everything.

Deaths: 5

Alternate Encounters: 10

(keep in mind, we have no idea how many encounters Adam has actually had, since he has been doing these investigations likely for years, and each investigation was pretty much just him and either Sarah or Jonah getting ‘sick footage’ of alternates.)
