Was Steven Universe Really As Bad As People Say???

I really want to make a video about this exact topic in the near future, but I'm 100% biased since I just finished this show and I love it to bits, but I want to try and look into the viewpoints of both groups before I really start that project!

I definitely see both sides of the coin; although the characters and their backstories are incredibly impactful, diverse, and well-written, especially for a show aired on Cartoon Network in 2013, it has many flaws. It's enough to make the internet either adore the show and defend it and the characters to insane degrees, or hate the show and every last one of their fans.

I really stand in the middle of this. I love the show and all the themes they delve into and how they tackle them. But, at the same time, I can't pretend that this show is perfect, and there's many things I really dislike about it, mainly in season 5 onward. I feel like many of the points people on the Steven Universe hate train constantly bring up are either disproven in the show or cherry-picking, but I do agree with a few of the show's criticisms at times.

I really like this show, but I do feel it gets a bad rep on the internet, although some parts of the show are definitely flawed. I really don't think it's enough to warrant the representation the show earned over the years, outside of the questionable fandom.
