i hate the notion that there is a right and wrong way for everyone to dress according to things like facial features. its stupid. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that still applies when talking about fashion. personal taste is subjective, thats literally where the PERSONAL comes from, everyones taste is different. it seems so counterproductive to tell people that the reason they think they look ugly is because what theyre doing just isnt right for them - whether its makeup, clothes or hair. its not that its unflattering its that its unflattering according to you. and just because you think it looks bad doesnt mean you have to give unwanted criticism on it. cause thats another thing ive been seeing so much lately, just people having the absolute nerve to give improvement 'tips' to people with more unique styles (these tips are usually just telling the person to get a better style cause the one they have now is ugly and they should look like everyone else if they wanna be good looking). i mean just look what happened to kayla malec, people didnt like her nose piercings, the vibrant jewellry she wore in the piercings, her heavily drawn on freckles and her fluffed up soap brows. she was absolutely flooded with comments telling her she had to change all of that because they as viewers didnt find it aesthetically pleasing. the comments got so bad to the point she was able to make an entire series out of them where she would have people do her makeup for her, the comments under these videos were always so backhanded, telling her she should keep her makeup like this because it looked far better and she should ditch the piercings entirely because they didnt look good. it honestly pissed me off so much because 1; she looked perfectly normal to me, she just had some features that stood out more (her piercings, brows and freckles) and 2; a lot of these same people like to sit there and complain about the beauty standards being so high, like i wonder why... its almost like its because you bully anyone outside of those standards until they box themselves into your ideals, denormalising unconventionality, but no that surely cant be it right??

bit of a rant

Exactly. Same thing applies to body shapes as well.
For example, I may be quite full in the hips and of shorter than average height (5 feet exactly), but neither of those things are stopping me from wearing things like low rise jeans (rise of 7.5 inches or less), even if other people might say that people with my proportions/stature shouldn't for some arbitrary reason. I dress for myself regardless of other people's opinions. If they don't like it, oh fucking well.
that honestly just reminded me of the whole kibbe body type thing from a couple years ago. that whole trend(?) always pissed me off so bad, like the people trying to show you that it worked by using celebrities would always pick pictures of the celebrities wearing very outdated styles in the 'unflattering' section and more current and trendy styles in the 'flattering' section, like of course youre going to think its more flattering cause thats whats trendy so it looks more normal to you. and the fact that a body typing system took facial features into account aswell was actual bullshit, cause what the fuck does the shape of my left eyelid have to do with my body proportions??

Okay so I didn't know who Kayla Malec was so I lookked her up and WHATTT she's actually so pretty thooo + the nose piercings are cuute =( not saying that I'd want any, but they suit her, y'know? Same goes for the freckles
The internet make me so mad sometimes... Like c'mon you would NOT have the audacity to say that to hrt face, would you??? Would you???
no literally! like she looks quite basic to me, and I don't mean that in a bad way, she literally looks like someone you would see out and about day to day. but because she didn't have the very cookie cutter look you see with most other influencers people had a problem with it.

Honestly it's really sad that society as a whole has been conditioned into thinking that everyone has to look a specific way in order to look 'good'..
