OST+FRONT FACTS!!! HYPERFIX BLOG PLS READ ILL BE HAPPI💗

!!!for those who have no idea what even is this - taken from wikipedia (translated from german bc they have no eng page AAA!!)

Ost+Front is a Neue-Deutsche-Härte band from Berlin. While the initial songs were characterized by a brutal musical style and monotonous rhythms, influenced by the musical and lyrical role model Rammstein, influences from industrial, metal and gothic were added over time. Ost+Front belongs to the so-called Black Scene.

o+f was formed in 2008, (some sources say it was formed in 2007 and was called 'okusa'), have 5 albums; ave maria, olympia, ultra, adrenalin, dein helfer in der not; 2 mini-albums; bitte schlag mich, freundschaft; and 5 7 (sorry can't count) singles; fleisch (ave maria), liebeslied (olympia), sternenkinder + fiesta de sexo (ultra), arm und reich + adrenalin + heavy metal (adrenalin)

i've been hyperfixated on them since last year so now doing a blog w facts about them :3

1: o+f's members are all characters. identities of people who play them are unknown. the only publicly known member is the vocalist and frontman - herrmann ostfront - his real name being patrick lange.

^before ost+front he played in tanzwut, corvus corax, schelmish and still sometimes plays in oomph!, and now besides o+f has his own folk project called nordhammer.

the band consists of:

- herrmann ostfront - vocals

- wilhelm rotlauf - bass guitar

- siegfried helm - solo guitar

- eva edelweiß - keyboards, percussion, also stated being back vocals (never heard him tho)

- fritz knacker - drums

- otto schmalzmann - rhythm guitar

ex-members are:

- chris l. - vocals (at the time herrmann played guitar), also a member of agonoize

- gernhardt von brüh - guitar, don't remember which

2: all members are sessional and people behind roles change from time to time, the only unchanged person besides herrmann is wilhelm, who's also the band's manager.

3: talking about different persons, + eva being my favorite one:

evas changed around 6 times

1st - from 2011 to 2014. had 2 versions - stasi uniform and long beige coat on top. i consider him the wildest eva honestly. was replaced by a woman few times, an example being wave gotik treffen in 2014.

2nd - 2014 to 2016. a bit more smaller than 1st. also had 2 versions, and was the first eva to wear a dress.

3rd - 2017 to 2019. since this member came, the dress became eva's main clothing choice. more massive than past 2. still appears on recent concerts!

3.5 - 2019. women that played eva during a tour in eastern europe.

4 - 2020 to ??, i think 2022. again a woman. still appears on recent concerts!

5 - 2022 to this moment. similar to eva 2 in body, though seems to be a woman, unlike 2nd one. sometimes gets replaced by 3 and 4

4: sad fact related to evas changing - 1st eva was kicked out of the band due to drug problems

(he's my fav and every time i think of it i go 'man was it worth it?!!'. i hope he got his help)

5: to lore, all members are zombies. ex. 'ost+front 2014' has the first lines from the ddr hymn: 'Auferstanden aus Ruinen und der Zukunft zugewandt' (risen from the ruins and turned towards the future), which you also can connect to them being undead. other example being the designs themselves - some characters have dead white skin, some are covered in dust and dirt instead. bonus examples are eva being unable to walk normally and wilhelm's bullet wound on his head

6: useless but fun fact: wilhelm is the tallest. eva is the shortest

7: in one of the interviews patrick says that ost+front originally had no +, but was added because ostfront reminded people of third reich's actions and thought of them as a nazi band. the actual meaning behind this name: patrick feels connected to russia and eastern germany - ost, them and their fans being strong together - front; this also stated in the same interview

8: another useless but fun fact: NOT CONFIRMED, but by some pictures it seems that wilhelm and eva are romantically involved. which i think was there from the start - on 2013-14 concerts they were the only ones hugging each other in outro. right now they're being the figurants of valentine's day posts on band's socials

9: eva is forced to be with them. this started from 2nd eva - a part of his character became a sign 'ich bin hier unfreiwillig' - translating to 'i'm here unwillingly'. 

^ eva is seen by herrmann as a piece of meat - ex. being the straight up sexual (fleisch, eng !!'MEAT') and physical (ich liebe es, eng 'i love it') harassment.

^^ eva could be a symbol of suppressed freedom - as history states, 'edelweiss pirates' was a movement of german minors against third reich, remember the fact his last name is literally the name of that flower

10: wilhelm is the band's dog. ex. him being kept in a cage-like building and fed from a bowl by eva in the music video for 'denkelied', being muzzled, one of the covers had herrmann holding wil and eva on a leash

11: some of their songs are based on real events;

- dein kanal - dnipropetrovsk maniacs' case

12: eva's gender. EVA'S GENDER. 1 to 2 were ALWAYS referred to with male terms (not counting the time when 'eva unmasked' post was made on their facebook and the picture was a very muscular woman). when eva 3 came, he started to get treated as female - was a figurant of women's day posts. eva 4 was referred to as 'frau' by their photographer, and a photo of her and melody aurora (the model they sometimes invite to be a part of the show) was signed with 'girls united'. i'm pretty sure that the only ones knowing his actual gender are o+f themselves. i still refer to him as a male because official public for o+f has 'eva is male' in the faq.

^ he also could be nothing - 2nd eva sometimes had 'es' (it) written on his stomach

13: eva 3 literally showed his dick on stage once. the song was fiesta de sexo

14: music video for 'ich liebe es' got HEAVILY censored for having pornographic scenes

15: some critics wanted to sue o+f for overly violent and controversial lyrics

16: they're very cool people!!!! very silly!!!! have good songs!!!! patrick himself said that if you like rammstein you will like ost+front!!!! my biggest dream is to meet them someday!!!! and my friend keeps saying that me and patrick could be very good friends!!!!
