FRIDAY NIGHT HEALTH LIFE

T.G.I.F. We made it through another work week and what better than unwinding with a bunch of friends. I used to struggle most Friday nights, glancing at the menu, looking for something to eat. I always wanted my Bacon Double Cheeseburger with potato skins widgets and 8 traditional hot wings! Not to mention my alcohol intake for the night. Now don’t get me wrong, you can still enjoy alcohol in moderation. 


It’s actually best to toast with a meal rather than an empty belly, but what’s the best meal on the menu at the pub? Without a doubt, I highly recommend watching out for all fried foods. You know the good ole deep fryer that’s every man’s friend. Rule of thumb, if it goes in the deep fryer stay away from it! But what can I eat? I recommend not giving up anything; instead, substitute the item with something similar. I mentioned earlier how I always wanted my Bacon Double Cheeseburger but remember small changes lead to big results. Instead of giving up my favorite meals I substituted them with healthier choices.


Substituting:

• Bacon Double Cheese Burger – Lean Turkey Burger (with or without bun)

• Crispy Chicken Sandwich – Grilled Chicken Sandwich

• Soda (Diet soda is just as bad as regular) – Water

• Dark Beer – Light Beer

• Packaged Snacks; Pretzels and Chips – Nuts


Stay away from:

• Regular Beer

• Wine Coolers

• Sugary Cocktails

• Buffalo Wings

• Nachos

• Breaded and Deep Fried Foods (This one was tough for me but it’s a must)Andres Rodriguez
