my hair and my urges

I'm going to the hairdresser in a few days and I have a dilemma because I currently have red hair (but very washed out, so they are ginger with regrowth lol) and people close to me say that I should stick to red, but I would like to try black and blue highlights. black will turn brown anyway, although e.g. my mum says not at all and that "I won't do anything with this hair" and that the regrowth will look terrible but this girly urge to change colors is devastating. I'm also wondering whether to improve my bangs additionally, because it is made amateurishly, but i'm afraid it will get even worse x_X
