Mabinogi!!

Pixel art of a crescent moon overlooking trees, surrounded by hazy clouds.

Had a lot of fun playing dress-up and going to the banquet <: I used to dress up as best as I could when I played as a kid. My outfits have gotten So much better since then.

I mean, just look at me now.

An image of my Mabinogi character; they have long, black hair tied in a ponytail, wear a long white gown, and have one black and one white wing. They stand against a bright window, in a pose with their arms outstretched elegantly to their sides as they look off to one side.
An image of my Mabinogi character, standing on a balcony and looking down. They have one white wing and one black wing, wear a long, flowing gown, and have long black hair tied in a ponytail. Behind them, through the entrance of the balcony, stars and a subtle silver light shine through and onto them.

Like. Utterly gorgeous. And the addition of props (like my balcony in the second image) and new dances just make posing so much more fun!!! I was going for an elegant but unearthly vibe with this look.

It was... Unfortunately sad at the banquet, though. One of the channels was pretty alive and active, but the rest were all pretty quiet. Especially 10--usually there's a specific crowd on channel ten made up of me, Katsu, Dargum, and a few others. Katsu will usually play music, and we'll all chitchat with whoever is active.

Tonight, on channel 10, I noticed it was... Empty. Save for about three or four players, aside from myself. I ended up idling on a different channel--I had a lot of other stuff that I needed to do, so...

Towards the end of the banquet, about 15min to spare, I came back, and I found that Mabinogi had disconnected. How sad, since you can't reclaim a ticket for a potential prize at the banquet. I don't go for the prizes, though--I go to look cute and chitchat and see this community "in-person"--the bugle chat is nowhere near as fun or kind as everyone is "face-to-face". I saw a player I recognize, but I don't talk to them, not really. Igglybuff. I spoke to them after they yelled "NOOO" at not winning the banquet prize, but they never said anything back. It really was quite the ghost town tonight. I hope that Katsu and Dargum and the others are all safe. There was a pretty big concert going on in Emain Macha, though--so, maybe that's where everyone was? The community really is still so very strong and vibrant, even though the MMO has been going on for so, so long.

A divider of black flowers and leaves.

Anyways. Before the banquet, I did some Fynni Gem hunting and leveling--mostly Balrogs, since those are such a high Fynni Gem rank and give a good payout when you sell the whistles to Fionnait. I left Raspa with 38 balrog gems, a handful of boar gems (I did need some of the ones that took about four hours real-time, as well), and a couple of lizard ones. It was, overall, a pretty good haul, considering I spent such a short amount of time there. I did also run into someone!!! Based on what they were doing--and the fact they were fighting Balrogs--I kind of assume they were training... Oh, what was it that made me fight those things? I think it was Thunder. I hated training my magic skills to mastery, and even then, I don't have all of them, just the main ones (Thunder, Ice Spear, and... Whatever the fire equivalent is). I'm still lacking the coveted Meteor and Hailstorm.

If I have the time and energy, I'll probably be working on life skills tomorrow. For the past month, I've mostly just been leaving the game up to idle while I rest--usually I leave it up to idle while I write, clean, and do other things, but I've just been so tired lately. I log on, I grab my Fynni Whistle, put in a new gem, send my pets on expeditions, and then I just leave it alone.

I think that's really all that I have to say about Mabinogi today. I don't think I've ever seen the Rath Royal Castle Banquet this empty on channel 10, so it really was just kind of sad. Maybe everyone will be around next week. We'll see. Even still, I enjoyed my time tonight, just as I always do. This game has been with me for about sixteen years, it brings me joy every time I can even catch a glimpse of it on my screen.

Pixel art of tombstones; small ghosts float above them.
