Film is not dead and i have proof!!
#1- Dìdi
this film is a beautiful coming of age drama about a teenage taiwanese-american boy in the summer before highschool set in 2008 california. it's kind of like 8th grade mixed with mid-90s but cooler and shockingly similar to my life (the mom being an oil painter made me feel like lifes a simulation theres NO way) this one won an award at sundance and its top of my list for this years oscar nominations so you should go find it now
vibe of this one is paramore, joyce manor, skate videos, and wristbands
#2- Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person
this one is a french-canadian movie about exactly what the title says it is. its very very cute and funny and seems like something tumblr would love, this is the only one thats fully a foreign language film (the others have subtitled sections in other languages) and is probably the hardest to find but if you live near an arthouse theater or can find somewhere to pirate it i very much recommend it
vibe for this one is support groups, tumblr aesthetic posts, vintage technology, and philosophy tube
#3- Kneecap
as maybe the only film i've seen in irish, another sundance award winner and one thats tied for first place as the best movie i saw at sxsw this year kneecap is incredibly unique. i really can't overstate just how fun of a watch this is so big big recommend if your at all interested in leftist politics, rap music, cool shit, or just hate the british
vibe for this one is ketamine and protests
all of these have released although most are/were very limited so you might not be able to find showings in your area but if you ever find a chance to in any way you should watch them
