#1 Remaking the home from My Summer Car.

My friend recently bought My Summer Car and I had a lot of fun watching him fail miserably at trying to build an engine for many hours straight. Because I had access to the game through our Steam Family (would definitely recommend setting one up with your friends) I decided to try it out. Once I had had my fun driving my tractor around drunk I had an idea. I looked up my summer car on the Gmod workshop to see if there was any custom maps people made and it turns out there was none of good quality. I decided to try my hand at remaking the house so I opened up hammer and got to work.

I first started off with the bed room and realized pretty quickly that there was not a lot of textures that I had that could really take the place of the objects of the house. I thought "why the hell not" and exported all the assets from the game and started porting them to Gmod.

Then, I expanded out into the hallway and bathroom, all the while porting more assets.

As I started working on these areas, I realized pretty quickly that there wasn't many assets in the source engine that could do the job of replacing the ones found in the actual game. So without much previous knowledge of porting models into the source engine, I got to work. I spent hours looking for a specific model in the hallway only to realize that it was named fucking cube_#3290.
once I found it though, it was pretty straight forward task of setting up the UV maps and compiling the model for the source engine.

Once I had ported it, it was pretty easy to figure out everything for the rest as I now had a workflow ready.

I was happy enough of how this was turning out so far so I moved onto the kitchen.

I blocked out the rest of rooms and started porting the rest of the assets from the game.

Once I had most of the interior in a pretty good state, I started working on the exterior. I had to learn how to set up blend textures and set them up with the textures from MSC.

I added some more trees and shrubbery outback.

As of now, this is the latest screenshot of the map. It's still far from  being finished but I'm proud of how far I've gotten into the project. Generally I take my sweet ass time making maps (probably because I have horrible ADHD) but I managed to get all this done in less than a week. I 've still got to finish the exterior and the surround structures but after that the map should be pretty much done. That's all I really have for now.

Heyy this is pretty damn sick!!
I'd live in a house like that. I feel solace within that last image in this thread. :)
