Friday, August 11th, 2023 Ice Nine Kills & August Burns Red #3
Date: Friday, August 11th, 2023
Venue: REBEL - Ontario, Canada
Lineup:
Mike’s Dead
Veil of Maya
August Burns Red
Ice Nine Kills
Mike’s dead was pretty fun! I wasn’t familiar with his music but the pit was fun and I decided to mosh for a couple of songs. He even played a new unreleased song at the show, although I still don’t know which song it was. Maybe #1 Crush? 😭
Memorable Moments:
- Some random dude walking up to me and asking if I had seen a stray converse shoe floating around. Sure enough, I look down and he has one socked foot on the floor 😭. Make sure to tie your shoelaces before you mosh, I’ve seen this happen so many times and it’s always so funny LMAO
Fun Meter: 3/5 (just because I wasn’t too familiar with any of the songs)
Favourite Song(s): Now that I know a few of his songs, I’d say Welcome To Hell and Puppet were my favs of his set

Veil of Maya was also fun! I don’t really listen to them but I did mosh and their pit was pretty energetic! I didn’t get any photos or videos of their set unfortunately because I was in the pit for a majority of it.
Fun Meter: 4/5
August Burns Red has a suuuuper overwhelming crowd reaction! I absolutely loved their set and their pit was definitely the most chaotic out of the ones I was in that night.
Memorable Moments:
- Getting thrown through the fucking air and landing on my ass during Bloodletter 😭 it’s always some absolutely massive, sweaty and shirtless man who takes a running start at me and sends me to the shadow realm 💀 it’s fun tho, my face didn’t get kicked when I was on the ground so that’s a plus.
- August Burns Red got SO many people to crowd surf during one of their songs, and it was fucking awesome to witness (especially as someone who wasn’t near the barricade lmao)
- Interacting with all of the other people in the crowd! Everyone near the pit was so nice and I had a lot of enjoyable interactions throughout the night!
Fun Meter: 5/5
Favourite Song(s): Bloodletter

Ice Nine Kills’ set ROCKED! The crowd response was overwhelming, and the band put on a fantastically chaotic and theatrical show. I couldn’t really see too much during their set because of my height, but it sounded awesome and I had a lot of fun interactions with other audience members. Also, hearing that many people sing along to their songs was incredible. I was supposed to see them on the Trinity Of Terror tour a year prior, but the Toronto date got cancelled. This was well worth the wait!
Memorable Moments:
- Just being able to witness how much effort they put into their production and live performance. It felt like more than just a concert, which was really awesome! I appreciate bands performing the music as is, but when they incorporate elaborate lighting and other forms of production it’s always cool to see!
Fun Meter: 5/5
Favourite Song(s): Your Numbers Up, Jason’s Mom, Welcome to Horrorwood

Setlist(s) and Other Photos:
Overall this show was really fun! Being able to hangout with friends and sing along to songs we love together in a live setting is always memorable! The people, bands and crew that I interacted with were all great, and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this night. If you want to see a show that has one hell of a production, I recommend investing your money to see Ice Nine Kills on one of their headliners. Sure, the music can be a little cheesy, but you can’t argue how much effort is put in by both the musicians and the crew to ensure the show sounds and looks spectacular! Gotta love horrorcore
