How can I be alternative (emo, punk...) without the aesthetic?

I've always interacted with alternative communities online, cause' we share the same music and similar life experiences of being ostracized and perceived as weird. Sometimes I notice that people have no idea that I'm into this music; hence, idk anyone with the same interests as me.

I wanna make friends with people that I can share my music with and go to concerts together, but I struggle to stick to a single aesthetic. I've even been tempted to try a gothic style, but I idk if I have the mental strength to be fetishised more than I already am.

How can I make my peers know that I'm an alt person through fashion without compromising my individuality?

Btw, I tend to be invisible even when I strike conversation cause': I'm a poc and have an accent, I don't drink as often, I have a resting bitch face and look kinda "masculine for a girl" (bs, this is how just my face looks, people are just stupid ._.)

hii! I don't know much but as far as I'm concerned, most subcultures are inherently based on the ideologies behind them and the music. of course, the style is also an important part of the culture but not necessary. it's easier to let people recognize you when you start dressing based on it, true, but if you don't it doesn't mean you're less punk/emo/goth/whatever you want to be so don't worry, if you don't want to make such a commitment it doesn't make you less enthusiastic about it. hope this helps!!

Thanks, I needed that sort of validation. I'm surrounded by non-alt people who only believe in subculture stereotypes and they are not familiar with the values, which makes it so difficult.
Maybe I'll try sewing band patches in my stuff, cause' I can't compromise with a single style. Thank you xoxo
