My thoughts on CCIAW! (Campfire Cooking In Another World)
This is strictly based on my opinion so this rant is very biased, I just want to find a reason to ramble and yap about my favorite series so please take this with a grain of salt, this is poorly written so there might be some grammar mistakes and a little rushed.
SMALL SPOILER ALERT!!
╰┈➤ Summary
Camping Cooking In Another World is a food Sekai series, it started off as a light novel and was adapted into an anime and manga, the novel was written by Ren Eguchi.
This series is about an ex-salary man, Mukouda Tsuyoshi, who was summoned to another world as a hero but he requested to live a normal life wanting nothing to do with the quest of being a hero as he wouldn't want to get in the way of the other heroes mission, he was also suspicious of the kingdom's ruler so he went to get escorted out of the kingdom only to find out that the border is gonna be closing soon. On his way to the neighboring kingdom, he is met with a monster that is attracted to his cooking when the group is having dinner, they form a contract and become familiars under the condition that he has to feed the monster 3 meals a day, later on, they both travel together and go on adventures together and occasionally along the way meeting new people, other monsters and goddesses/gods.
╰┈➤ Plot
The plot is pretty simple, following the same formula as any other isekai, basically, The protagonist gets summoned, then gets sent on a quest immediately. Usually, the protagonist is really OP who got the abilities from gods, getting a harem blah blah blah.. but what makes this anime different is that the story doesn't include any of the harem bs, no romance side plot, or the protagonist being super OP right from the beginning because of whatever reason for plot purposes, the story is very heartwarming and wholesome which revolve around cooking food for his companions, well, it is a food Sekai after all. Mukouda makes money off of his grocery shopping skills which were deemed to be very useful because he is planning to become a merchant, everybody thinks that the skill is lame and absurd, but it is deemed invaluable to the people of this world because they find no use for it.
I love the main protagonist because he does have some common sense, But for some reason, again, the protag in these isekai don't question how or concern themselves with how they ended up here, they just accept that this is the way it is, they always go on a quest for the sake of being a hero, always be accepting the quests from somebody they don't even know and moves on without ever thinking nothing of it.
But this is just a fantasy story with a fictional world and character so that doesn't mean the anime itself isn't any good, I was hoping that it could've been different to make the concept of it unique and differ itself from other isekai anime. Overall this anime is pretty good and I highly recommend it, though the typical basic concept of isekai anime, is still fresh and wholesome so is best when you want something silly to watch once in a while, the plot is fun and silly, the characters are likable, and technically still basic considering they follow a lot of anime's character troupe but it's still fun to watch.
╰┈➤ Character
Talking of characters, they're all amazing, I wouldn't say well-written but I love them nonetheless, especially Mukouda, he is a typical comical main protag who is a wimp when facing battles occasionally when they're hunting monsters for food or going to dungeons, the only thing he is good at is cooking which leads him to meet new companions and making a contract (without his consent) to be his familiar in a future episode, my only complaint with this character is that he fell into the troupe of loser protag, who, later on becoming very OP!! And the Gods/Goddesses favored them!! Who is also a comical relief, okay, but there's nothing wrong with comical relief characters but is being overused in these isekai anime with the protagonist always trying to pull some 'funny' moments. Again, maybe I'm just exaggerating. All that aside, he actually has some common sense and figured he could use his online grocery skills to his advantage since this world is medieval so they probably don't know the potential use of the grocery shopping skills that contained all the modern items. I adore him, he cooks, is potential wife material, might've been a loser in his past life, and oh lord.
He's also a twink
I just wanna wife him up more than anything (ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ)♡
Sui is amazing, great, adorable, cute, capable, spectacular, awesome sauce, astonishing, staggering, confounding, reliable, and the best slime next question.
I don't have much to say about Fel but he is Mukouda's first familiar, he's a legendary Fenrir who's rumored to have destroyed a country decades ago, Fel almost got stuck with a name like Hachi or Pochi because of Mukouda's horrible decisions making of naming things, he's really OP and most of the time he's always the one fending off monsters or the one who bring the food for Mukouda is cook, they met by Fel being attracted to Mukouda's cooking at the beginning of the episode. He did show that he cares for his companions but he most likely will not admit it and would just say that he did it for the food. Overall very lovable to me
Side characters like Elrand, Werner, and The Butcher are pretty okay and maybe likable enough to me just not as much as the main characters, though I really like Elrand who is this nerd that likes dragons and would rambles on and on about it.
╰┈➤ World-Building
Ehhh is really nothing new to me, I'm not an expert who knows a lot about world-building because I know very little about world-building. So all of my rants here are biased.
First of all, I wanna share my thoughts on the world surrounding the main characters, there are background characters here and there interacting with the main character sometimes, and the cities look identical to each other even though there are several countries that we know of so far in the story, what changes could be made to make the world-building more livier? Here are some of my questions.
What's the purpose of heroes being summoned to this world, how did the heroes get here, and what's the system behind this? Did someone summon them here on purpose or did they randomly just happen to be teleported here? How did the skills get sorted for each person? How did people use appraisal and why can heroes or certain people only can? Are there limitations? What is the geography in other kingdoms like? This is because geography can affect the way people live, dress, and eat. Are there any factors that make the world the way it is? Are there religions? If so, what do the people of this world believe in? Are they aware of the gods? Do rules exist in this world? What is society like and standards for the people of this world? What/how is living in this world like? Is it hard, or is it easy to thrive here? How do the people interact or live here? What makes this different from our world? What is the tone of each city or country like? Exam: lively, mysterious, empty, warm, fresh, etc. (all can be based on the environment or the people in power that can greatly affect the way their kingdom is)
I think that this world is very basic to my point of view, sure is a fantasy world with monsters, dragons, and magic, but I found this anime to be following the formula of any other fantasy world or isekai to be built with the same environments. They might explain some of this like how the heroes got here in the first place and the systems but what about the culture and the people that could be helped to easily differ from the others, they could do this by showing how people from different countries dress based on the environment that they lived in, like are they living in a humid area? Cold? Or in the forests? Beliefs could also change the way a person lives, The environment could affect the settings and people, what makes the people hostile or avoiding? Or are they welcoming and content with their life in this kingdom? These factors are to contrast the differences between each kingdom to actually be memorable enough to remember.
My conclusion is that since this is supposed to be a heartfelt and wholesome story that mainly focuses on food and travel, most of the things I mentioned here are mostly likely not needed, are just what I think would make the world-building more livier. Also just know that I only did some brief Google research to kinda understand what world-building is so pretty much most of these things that I rant about are not very important
The hyperfixation is really getting to me, I've never written anything like this in school before. Might as well just give me a degree in Yappington. :'D
My first attempt at decorating a blog entry and is so time-consuming (╥﹏╥)
