What have I learned about Spacehey in my first 10 days?
The Good
- Nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia!
- No advertisements.
- I haven't seen anything about politics since I've been on here.
- I can mess around with tweaking designs and creating graphics like I used to enjoy doing way back in the good old days of MySpace.
The Bad
- It's about as dead as MySpace was when I left. Did I miss the Spacehey boom? Or was there ever a boom in the first place?
- It's difficult to find adults on this site. Especially active ones.
- There are several things about MySpace that just aren't here. It's close, but it's missing some of the key things that made it what it was.
- The forums and groups dedicated to coding are not even close to the ones I remember from MySpace. In fact most of those seem pretty dead as well.
Conclusion
I think I'll stick around. It's not MySpace, but I'm having fun. I really enjoy not having politics and advertisements shoved down my throat. Even if there's less interaction with people, it seems better for my mental health to get away from modern day social media as much as I can. I've been mostly just styling the default layout up to this point but I do want to eventually create some graphics and shift things around to make it more custom. If only spare time was like a game cosmetic that you could just purchase. lol. I'll get around to doing something cool one of these days. For now, I'm just enjoying the ride.

I've been here going on 2 years and it was definitely busier when I first joined. There were a handful of users that put out a stream of things for the rest of us to interact with, be it blank surveys, conversation prompts, etc. Some of them have gone quiet or disappeared entirely and it's been a mellower time since. But I think it's nice to have a place that is mostly low drama, even if it's missing some features that make more modern social media more fun (native image hosting is probably feature I miss most).
Yeah. I forgot what it was like to not have a "photos" section. And honestly I haven't blogged since probably back in the MySpace days. And I have an actual blogging website as well. lol.

Yeah, the boom was during its first year. But I'm still here; I like to update my page occasionally. I don't really interact much with people as I've had more negative interactions than positive ones LOL. But maybe that'll change if more people join!
I really like the site. Hopefully it sees a new surge of people!
