I'm (usually) a graphic design and media arts major, hoping to go into web design and related fields someday. With AI becoming more of a threat, and me constantly noticing the difference in skills between myself and other artists, I've really become more motivated to create more visually interesting art.
This is probably very typical of me to say as a graphic design major, but I'm specifically really interested in making graphic art in simplified styles that still look interesting and unique. A core inspiration for me throughout my teen years was the modern PBS KIDS style (specifically from their MMO, Kart Kingdom, but really any art across the brand in both the 2008 and 2013 rebrands, especially online). I'd love to design media for kids someday, so it's common for kids' brands to catch my attention like that. I admire the design of Nick Jr's Noggin as well.
I also like making more detailed illustrations, but struggle with interesting composition. Like a lot of other people my age, I spent a lot of time learning how to draw anime characters when I was younger. I've gotten better at anatomy. Utilizing space well (especially relative to backgrounds/other objects) is still an issue for me lol
If anyone has any tips or exercises that I can do to practice the skills I need, that would be great. Thanks!
