Hey SpaceSleepers (53): Pyrite Sea

I deeply support piracy and the whole idea that it is "stealing" is really nonsensical. There is no loss going on, no one is saying that a game that they pirated was made by them, nor is anyone actually directly losing money on a few people pirating it. To expand on the second point, a lot of people say that the piracy of media has the tendency to make the people behind it lose money when that's not true at all considering losing money would imply they had that money in the first place. The people who actually do the hard work on media get paid in either pennies for royalties OR they were already paid when the media was released because they are ONLY paid hourly (which is more common than the former). The people whose hard work go into the creation do not own the means of production, thus it means only the big heads at top get the money that the game, show, or movie makes.

Moreover, this isn't even going into the net gain of purchases when a games after they're pirated. You may not expect this, but a lot of games that are extremely piratable tend to have extremely good sales. Why so? It's because more people are talking about it and with more people discussing it, it brings in people who would prefer buying the game. Not to mention, a lot of people that I know who pirate games have the tendency to just purchase them when they're on sale and just transfer the save file over because they would prefer to OWN the game. In addition, not everyone can pay the climbing prices of games that are now reaching 70 USD in the US and I sure as hell know that the price of that same game in Brazil is not even substantially cheaper after conversion. People who work on this media don't even get money post-release because they only worked on the project when it WAS in development, only the company people get that money (07/29/2024).
